These seem to crop up with metronomic regularity. Let's make a list of everything that doesn't work. I know about
  • Gas attacks
  • Barrels
  • Forced disarmament
  • Shock troopers
  • Minelayers / sweepers

Are there any others?

Here are a few things that don't work or seem strange to me.

-My railways don't increase the life rating, I read somewhere that they did.
-It's quicker to sail around Africa than through the Suez Canal.
-When choosing ship names, the computer seems to choose them in alphabetical order.
-I'm not sure any British Victorians would understand what you talking about if you mentioned Railroads. They of course wouldn't use the American dialect.
-Same for ranches.
-One of the inventions is noted as Edisons lightbulb. Edison of course didn't invent the lightbulb. Common mistake but a mistake nonetheless.

Other than that there are all the military items mentioned above and the economy, which is discussed in depth in other parts of the forum.

I like paradox games a lot, but I really wish you would test them properly before releasing them. Hey, next time send me a beta copy, I'll help.

Then, next time, apply for the beta. The games are tested 'properly' before being released, but there are always more things to improve and the games need to be released at certain times.

paradox should take up the infamous "when its done" stance on game releases....
On topic, subs might be one... because as of now they are useless

They aren't really useless, they can still kill ships fine. It's just there is no merchant shipping for them to take out which leaves them as just another ship class.

Paradox has a schedule to keep on when the game will be released. I think that were Johan able or willing to delay a release so that additional testing could be done, he would do so.

The best solution is to have beta testers that will stick to doing the work - and there's a lot of it. Johan has said in the forums many times that he has to get about ten people to sign up in order to get one beta that will do the work. Of the folks that did the beta, it probably fell to about two dozen solid people who spent hours each day testing the various game aspects. (And I will admit that my own contribution toward the beta work on Victoria was far more toward researching and minor bug finding than toward the really deep testing. :( )

I do hope that every gamer who complains about how more testing should have been done on Victoria or HOI or any future Paradox game, has a chance to be a beta. They'll soon realize just what is involved and how much Johan gets done each day - every day - all while working on alpha builds and patches for other Paradox games. They wouldn't be so quick to complain any more.

I do not doubt the amount of time and effort gone into the making of Victoria and the other Paradox games. The level and detail and historical accuracy is excellent. I do not doubt there is heart behind these projects. Indeed, any criticism seems to be taken personally and that shows a high level of pride and determination to get things right.

My only issue is that I have gone to the shops, paid my money, and walked home in anticipation of what awaits. Only to find that some of the major features don't work as intended. I find that annoying.

Apologies for going off subject.

Exclusion Acts.

The ability to restrict the culture of the POPs immigrating to your country. I'm not so sure you would want to limit POP growth with this, so the fact that it wasn't implemented was perhaps a good thing.

Was this ever promised? I don't recall seeing it mentioned in the manual, nor is there a button for it anywhere that I know of. Unless you know something I don't, I think this is an unimplented wish rather than an unimplemented feature.

I didn't know that was ever planned.
