Unfavorable AI Independence DoW

Hey all, I'm playing a game as Gujarat and noticed that one-province Marwar had declared an independence war against its overlord, Mewar. Marwar had no supporters to bring in and Mewar brought in Vijayanagar, which already confused me greatly. Screenshot below shows diplo map for Marwar (green), at war with red guys).

But as the months and years continued to progress, Marwar's warscore only continued to go up. Mewar, despite having numerical superiority by itself, just kept its troops in its own territory and never even tried to siege Marwar. Plus, VJ never showed up in the contested area at all, which I'm guessing was because of military access issues, but I'm not sure I've ever seen an AI not have military access to a war target.

Marwar's warscore got up to 25 or greater, I stopped paying attention at some point, before Nagaur declared a separate war on them and annexed their one province.

Can anyone offer insight as to what happened here? Why would a one province AI with no outside support declare war on its larger overlord and also one of the largest regional powers? And why did Mewar (and potentially VJ) not engage?

As an aside, about 3/4 through that weird war, I declared a separate war on Mewar, which sealed their loss. Then I released Marwar a few years later and will see to it that they achieve the glory they fought so hard for.

Why not just go in and check mewar yourself ? If it's ironman check adm score comparison to see if they're in debt.

This is an event which fires for mewar and essentialy realease a tag (marwar) which deleares on mewar with the independence casus belli. They dont have any allies because they declare as soon as possible (aka 1 day after the event fires) so they cant find any allies. Because its an indepence war Mewar CAN call in their allies.

When we annexed the neighboring kingdom of Marwar in 1438 it was in an act of retribution. The Rathore Ranas of Marwar, once trusted friends and regents to our Rajas, had conspired to murder our royal heir and overthrow our kingdom. Ever since the last remaining heir of the Rathore lineage has been wandering the deserts of Rajasthan biding his time and waiting for an opportunity to reclaim his patrimony.
That time seems to have finally come, at least in the mind of Jodha Rathore. We have just received word that our men in the Mandore fort in Marwar have been overwhelmed by soldiers loyal to the cause of the Rathores.

Trigger conditions Is Mewar None of: Marwar exists Year is 1455 or later None of: Year is 1490 or later Owns province Marwar Owns at least 3 non-colony provinces	Mean time to happen 105 months
Immediate effects Hidden effect: Marwar: Province Marwar: Cede province to Marwar Marwar gains a core on this province A new ruler comes to power with the following attributes: Named Jodha Of the Rathore dynasty 4 administrative skill 2 diplomatic skill 4 military skill

Why not just go in and check mewar yourself ? If it's ironman check adm score comparison to see if they're in debt.

Very true, hadn't thought of this since I always play ironman, but this is a non-IM multiplayer game so I could have
