In a recent game, I encountered enclaves and a leviathan, and was very confused. While I really liked the War in Heaven idea of the Leviathan DLC, I didn't want enclaves or leviathans showing up in my galaxy and so did not purchase the DLC. The game was run with several mods, so it's entirely possible a mod has introduced them to my game despite not having the DLC, so I figured I'd pose a few questions to help me figure this out.

1) Does anyone know if Enclaves and Leviathans were included in an update so that they'll appear even without the DLC (and the DLC just added more variety or greater detail to these things)?

2) Does anyone know of a way to disable Enclaves and Leviathans within the settings of the game?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Good to know the game doesn't normally include these without the DLC. Now to figure out what mod is responsible for this...

Enclaves, Leviathan and War in Heaven are parts of Leviathan Story Pack/DLC. So one of hte mods must have made that avalible.

Of course the files are still provided. And if you join a MP game, the hosts DLC settings apply (there is a extra "host has dlc" check for that).

You have made the cardinal mistake of writing supplementary information which is far far more interesting than the title of the thread.

So I am compelled to ask: WHY would you not want enclaves or leviathans showing up in your galaxy!?

Pretty sure I figured it out and have engaged the modder about it, who is looking into it as he had no idea the mod would do this.

@The Founder - Thanks, the modder and I were a bit baffled how I could be getting assets to appear that I never bought. We were guessing something along those lines, but your confirmation of it was very helpful.

@Oscot - I mean... it's pretty straightforward. Those didn't appeal to me and my sense of the kind of galaxy I wanted to play in and story I wanted to unfold. Same reason I didn't buy Sunset Empire for CK2 when it came out. Nothing against those who like those ideas, but that wasn't of interest to me.

Not the op, but i largely ignore the dlc now.

The game isn't overly difficult in vanilla, but you throw in merchant enclaves, and you might as well just use console codes. It's like playing god mode for a few minutes in a game mildly entertaining at first, but when there's absolutely no challenge it's boring.

I just skip that stuff now, i like small unique bonuses here, and there, but some are a little too much, and overly RNG. I've had a lot of games where i don't run into dlc content until i've already cleared 1/2 or more of the galaxy, and other times it's right by my starting system. I like perfecting an overall strategy that is more or less consistent regardless of where i start on the map (you always have to adapt but the planet spawns basically guarantees 2 small habitables, and 1 medium size, reasonably nearby), and the dlc content just kind of throws that into the trash.

I will never understand this mindset. You like playing NON-ADAPTIVELY? Developing a strategy where you don't actually have to think situationally but just go through the same motions every time, like a monkey with an organ grinder?

Why even play the game at all if your goal is to reduce it to something totally formulaeic? Just watch the AI, that already has the formula.

Damn, son.

this is my logic to it, same reason i keep sunset and conclave on in ck2, it adds more randomness makes me change up my usual incest and careful political planning.
and in all honestly the only part of leviathans thats is really difficult is the leviathans themselves. WoH can be ignored and enclaves are the same.

Same reason people play Sudoku i guess. The formula is more of a priority list than a flow chart so there is variance in what you do - that said there is a generally optimal way to go no matter where you start, what planets are near you, how many neighbors you have, or how strong they are.

Do you choose farms upgrade, propaganda broadcasts or colonization as your first sociology tech Always colonization - Always. Do you heavily focus on science or energy as soon as you start a new game or minerals - always minerals. Everyone develops a basic idea of what they should be doing, and when they should be doing it, if its 2300, and you're producing 30/43/36 you know your science is low, etc.

Everyone plays to a basic formula with an already established thought process - i just take it a step further and try to figure out which techs have highest priority, which planets, fleet strength at a given year, etc. The entertainment value i find in that is just improving on it every time i play, i don't knock role players for their play styles.
