Just picked up the game and was playing as Brazil to get the feel and understanding of it all.

The USA has undue influence over my country. I started as a closed society, central planning, authoritarian gov, with a 50/50 standing vs draft army.

Now over 20 yrs I have an open society, free market with a standing army and my gov is drifting toward elections. Is there anyway to block their influence?

Not having played Brazil much..... but here's my thoughts.

Your best bet as Brazil is to ally with the SU, and whomp some of your neighbors. That should stop the US from influencing you. Mind, it might make them try "regime change" the old fashioned way too, so be careful. ;)

in db/misc.txt there is the option for:

# Requirement for "Influence Nation" to affect domestic sliders: Our IC >= Target IC * X

just change the number to 40 or so and the USA wont be able to affect your sliders anymore, well noone will be able to affect anyones sliders over "Influence Nation" anymore.

I was under the impression that influence nation couldn't affect Political Right vs. Left and Authoritarian sliders, only Open Society, Standing Army and Free Market/Central Planning. Those may have been random little 'coup' events.

On the other hand, full Open Society, Standing Army and Free Market are good sliders. Full Standing is definitely far better than sitting halfway in the middle. Cheap units, cheap upgrades, and low partisans. What's not to like?

The only way to stop the US having such influence is to build yourself to 1/2 US IC. Since they probably have 300+ IC, you could likely conquer all of South America and still not have enough.

AFAIK, america will only influence you if you aren't in an alliance with somebody else. Try allying with a smaller like minded but neutral country so that they won't drag you into any wars and america no longer cares about you. I'm not sure if there are many other left wing radicals around though, maybe republican spain?

I tried that. But since everyone of my Foreign Ministers brings negative influence country, join/create alliances, etc. So my chance for success is 0.

I am fine with standing army, but I thought that Central economy was better than free market?

And I am far right wing, but most of my goos relations are with the left wing countries.
