I'm playing as Spain currently and i have 40k mercs and 40k regiments still making 25 goold a month its only around 1535 I'll post pics when i get home later

Castile is now so rich at the start that they field their entire FL in mercs at game start if you dont mind foregoing +2 advisors. Really helps taking out France given your low manpower but is probably a little OP.

I have all level one advisors since the level two and three ones arent much worth it, im ahead of time on tech right now so why waste the money this is turning into one of my best games yet, allyed with england and some smaller countrys inherited aragon and naples took over portugal before they colonized blocked france off from the coast with the help of england, looking like it will only be me and england in the americas if i can block off the coast before someone like denmark gets in there.

Spain... ok, good joke. Anyway, my income is above 100 gold but large damaged army eats above 70 gold/month to replenish itself.

When/if you take large losses. Merge your units and build new ones (preferable mercs). It simply takes too long to reinforce if you have a large number of units on, lets say, 250 soldiers.

But its hard to tell exactly what could have been done when you do not sit with the game. As theres quite a lot of factors in play.

What year? as ottomans you should be able to field a lot of mercs. This is also relevant regarding to tech since a 2 tech difference can matter a lot at one point in the game and nearly nothing at other points. Mil tactic and morale, new units are ofcourse really important. That 6/5/5/2 general might be the bigget problem.
Regarding that you cant field many mercs. What do you use your income on? advisors, maybe star 2?

Use mercs, as many as possible. I prefer to only use mercs for infantry. Your Cav and Artillery numbers are far lower than Infantry (so your losses are also only a fraction) and their base cost is mostly a lot higher than Infantry.
Destroy the army then carpet siege with only the needed number of soldiers. If thats not possible you can either siege a couple of provinces and gather your army when attacked or you can siege the border provinces with small numbers having your doom stack behind.
Don't attack them in mountains :p

I usually use mercs as infantry backed by cannons of my own and use my national army units as a support in the hard battles. The problem was that they popped new units before even my mercs and army could replenish themselves. Buying new mercs quickly accumulates a lot of debt for me but if Austria only pays 2% or 1% if they have some related idea for loans it might explains it.

I ended up lagging in tech because I decided to westernize. I was on par with mil tech before westernization but ended up 2 techs weaker right after.

Are you just letting them build units? Or are you trying to carpet siege their lands? They cant build units on a province if you have units on it.

This is how I play my siege war. If the 28 Austrian stack starts going around, I move my units from Grainz to Karnter and Karnter to Gorz. My move path is shorter than theirs, thus I get to my line faster.

Note that Linz is a plain, so if I ever want to be initiative, strike there while the stack is there.

Meh, this is a bad example, because in my game 28k Austrians would WIPE that amount of what you have combined in the mountains, while crossing a river. In your case, Austrians don't even have 3-star general, which is a HUGE difference on the low tech levels. As I said to deal with them I used 3x or 4x advantage, otherwise they win. 6/5/5 general is empowering an early unit 5-fold when they have just 1 or 2 pips in attack

I've noticed this to an extent too. The AI is using a lot of Mercenaries, which is good for historical accuracy. But how in the hell do they manage to maintain all of them? I've seen Burgundy have a standing army of 27 Mercenaries in 1510, and coupled with their regular regiments, they were way above their Force Limit. They never seemed to run out of money though.

They don't. If you wipe out their stack, they of course don't pay anymore for it. I'd expect the best option to be letting them recruit...and hold the line. Let the treasury drain, and the loans pile.

Then you should wait for his death or hire a general who has 3 shock at least. Now you can fight with same army at mountain.

Well theres a couple of options like pulling back and let them reinforce to fight another day or to pull back, merge and buy new units. You should have a large treasury to fund going over forcelimit if nessesary or buying more units while at war. I would have probably have atleast 400 ducats as the Ottomans (in 1460) just for emergencies.
Westernizing wouldnt have been the best call. Ottomans are not really in a bad tech group and if you have innovative and use your western neighbors ahead f time bonus optimal it shouldnt be needed.
Is there a large difference in MIL Idea Groups between you and Austria? it can also mean the world. And which do the two countries have respectively.
