There are a number of tweaks to this coming in 1.1 that will make peace negotiations with the AI somewhat (IMO quite a bit) more reasonable.

Kinda sucks for those players without access to the net...but at least its getting done Yay for paradox and their launch patches!

In this day and age I dare say that there's very few people that are avid gamers yet don't have any access to the internet. If nothing else, they could go somewhere else (library/friend) and download the patch onto a small USB-disk or cd or whatnot.

Yes...considering they can get free dial-up (even if its limited amount) almost anywhere.

However they should be offering free broadband here (they are offering free wifi after all) *grumbles*

If you don't have internet these days you really need a reality check.

And if you don't know about patches for games you need one as well.


But hey look on the bright side if they buy the game and don't know about patches or the internet, they have no where to go to complain. ;-)

I was offline for a while myself, but with a small USB flash disk you no longer have to feel offline and get your patches/mp3s from a friend's or work computer.

Regardless if you have the internet or not, it's not part of the system requirements. SO... if you don't have the internet your version of EU3 is final. EU3 v1.0 is what you paid for and to say that what version you buy is merely a placeholder is simply idiotic. I have the net and worship Paradox for their awesome updates but I never "expect" patches as part of the service that I paid $40-50 for.

If you pay for something upfront and receive something different than what you expected you got ripped off. If you are ok with that then you are probably a model consumer, though an imbecile.
