Not sure if this really deserves another new thread but not sure it suited any of the others I see either.

So I saw in the map editor dev diary someone asking about the possibility of underground water, and I believe CO saying it wasn't currently an option. I can understand why that could be hard but thinking there is perhaps a way to at least give the effect of having water flowing underground and back out again.

So at the moment the water spawners appear to lay flat on the terrain, but would it be possible to have a spawner that can be place on its side eg against the hillside so the water appears to be coming from underground, even though its not really. You could even have the spawner or a graphic show up for it to give the effect of a cave, not real, just a picture attached to the spawner that looks like the entrance/exit of a cave. You could also do something similar to the existing spawners that adds a pic giving the effect of water flowing down in to a cave/hole. Perhaps added to that an option that lets you put in a spawner that doesn't spawn water but just drains it to help with that effect of water flowing down in to a cave.

So although the water would not really flow underground, you'd be able to make it look as if it did.

I think what people were hoping the most about that would have been to be able to either make the river disappear and reappear a bit after or to have some nice arch over a river.

I'm pretty sure there is some sort of underground water. In a recent video that was sent out of the game (link), when Mariia scrolled over the water tower, while demonstrating the water. The water tower takes water out from underground, so obviously there's underground water.

But I don't think that's exactly you mean, right? I think we can get a spring coming out from the mountain. There was a waterfall coming out of the mountain in the second trailer, in Boreton.

Yeah so we do have water underground, but the question is can water flow in to, or out of it.

Its ok mate I wasn't expecting you to answer that :)...we'll just have to wait and see, or wait till CO give us an answer...but thats why I feel the existing water spawners could be utilized in more ways....currently they're all flat to the ground, but allowing us to have a few different types of water spawners + some background/wallpaper type images that could be added to the side of a hill/mountain to at least give an effect as if water was really coming out of an underground cave system. I cant seem to think of the right term to use for now but basically the image would be just a picture with some depth and look like an entrance/exit of a cave and it'd be buildable so it can be put against a hillside/mountain.

Is it possible with the current map editor to create a cave on top of a mountain with a depression inside the cave to put a spawner upright? the water would appear to be flowing out with a hidden "pond" inside.

Yes that is possible. With map editor you can make the water appear where you want.

What is unsure is if you can make water disappear.
