Why underground roads are essential..

Because look:

stock-photo-modern-tunnel-and-traffic-153040457.jpg

They're a nifty way to bypass a busy city centre..

stock-photo-new-modern-traffic-tunnel-62390212.jpg

They ease congestion..

stock-photo-empty-freeway-at-night-63633682.jpg

They're a cool alternative to bridges..

stock-photo-automobile-tunnel-at-gassho-zukuri-village-shirakawago-110661299.jpg

They're essential to bypass mountains and hills..

stock-photo-an-aircraft-taxiing-on-the-runway-which-runs-over-the-top-of-busy-general-holmes-drive-sydney-11897656.jpg

They do this!

Any chance on an update as to whether CO will be including underground roads?

I don't know yet if we will have the time to implement this before the release. However the team feels this is an important addition to the game but the schedule is still unclear unfortunately.

Would be a pity if it wasnt included. Building subterranean and sunken Highways was one of the greatest things to do in SimCity4 (NAM) - which yielded realistically looking trafic systems for high density city centers.

Please, please make tunnels! The bridges look really great, but tunnels are just as imperative for a city builder as bridges and overpasses. Simcity 2013 was drastically improved when overpasses and tunnels were added. I wouldn't mind if tunnels were added in a later patch. But I do sorta feel like without them the game would not be something I could splash out for. For myself Paradox is without doubt the most innovative and receptive developer around; so I feel confident you guys will get to the tunnels. Ta

Thanks for the reply martsu. The game is looking great regardless and I'm certain CO are passionate about this game so we'll probably see underground roads in the future after release. *fingers crossed*

A must have indeed, still many things missing regarding transport system (the DLC should be massive...)

- sunken and tunnels for roads, railway, tramway
- tramway
- taxi
- bicycle ways
- Boats are uncomplete for me, they match a touristic / international approach with liner skin but not a transport inside a city...
- canals

Cities: Skylines Rush Hour DLC :)

Taxi's are an interesting idea. You could place a taxi depot which would cover a certain distance and watch the little taxis stream out of it.
