The Line has been Drawn...
((How will you play both sides? And wtf happened to Manchuria?))

((It is still in the works, and I have yet to totally figure it out yet. I have an idea though, so bear with me...))
((And Russian Manchuria?))

((Alright so this may be crazy enough to work.

Multiplayer is a thing you know. Instead of me going back and forth trying to play both nations, why not let the leaders duke it out? Basically, I am going to do the war as a giant multiplayer session, with the leaders (or an assigned substitute) playing as their respective faction.

Instead of sending orders to me, you shall be sending orders to the guy in charge of playing for your faction. This should work out if the player playing as the faction has 3.03 and the mod that I shall provide for them.

Worse case scenario, I just play as both nations with my two game copies on the same PC.

The nations are set up and ready to go for the proxy war. Voting ends in 24 hours.))

The Japanese Civil War Pt.1: The Crisis Begins

The Southern Army revolt against Imperial authority signaled the start of what historians agree as the Japanese Civil War, the Second Boshin War, Yamagata's Revolt, or any other name that sticks. Regardless of what you call it, the Civil War divided the nation into two. On one side of the fence you have Yamagata's military coalition, on the other you have the Osaka Pact Imperial Government. Both nations have their own strengths and weaknesses that will help determine overall victory.

The Imperialist Faction is the Imperial Government headed by Kusaribe Kinzo and Kishiwada Yukio; the Osaka Pact. The Osaka Pact government was born when Kusaribe and Kishiwada stopped Yamagata's coup in its tracts and established their own absolute government. The Emperor was more supportive of the Osaka Pact then Yamagata's coup, since Meiji felt Yamagata was trying to become a modern Shogun. Regardless, their attempts would ultimately fail when the Southern Army revolted and busted out all of their commanding officers. The Imperialist Faction currently controls the regions of Chubu, Kanto, Tohuku, and Hokaido, the four most northern provinces. Chubu and Kanto are the industrial heartland of the Empire, meaning that economically, the Imperialists start off on a better footing then their militarist counterparts. The Imperialist controlled areas also had more people, meaning bigger reserves and bigger armies able to be raised. This would mean that the Imperialists could raise more troops then the Militarists in a time of need as such. The Imperialists, through the power of General Yamamoto and Asano, also have control over Korea. When Kusanagi Miroki, the then Governor-General of Korea declared his support for the Militarists, the two generals secured Korea from the hands of the Militarists, making Korea an Imperialist colony. However, with the neutrality of the majority of the fleet, the Korean forces would have a hard time providing aid to the mainland forces since transportation across the Sea of Japan was lacking. Another weakness of the faction is that many of their supporters are politicians and economists, men who never fought in battle or led troops. Only Yamamoto and Asano are the true generals, but they were the only ones. This meant that armies were lacking adequate leaders, which could be a problem figuring the prowess of the other side's general staff. The Imperialists also had division in their political ranks. While many found themselves uniting behind the cause of the Emperor, the political divides were there. Socialists, Nationalists, Liberals, and Conservatives were forced to work together. Even then this led to divides. The Japanese Union of Nationalists was split in two as both its founders went to separate sides. The Socialists were mixed on supporting any side, and pacifists like Uesugi flat out refused to partake in the conflict. The political situation in Imperial Japan was unstable, an easy target to cause strife.

On the other side of the fence we have the Militarist Faction led by General Yamagata Michitsura. After the betrayal of Kusaribe and Kishiwada, two of Yamagata's closest allies, the General was in a bad mood. Even though he and his fellow supporters were released, this did not mean the war to control Japan would be easy. Yamagata expected an easy coup, not a full blown civil war. His weaknesses in his faction were evident as it was. The controlled economy, population, and other factors were way behind that of the Imperialist side. He knew that he had no navy to work with, and he knew that without Imperial support, many would turn against him. However he did not seek revenge. He wanted only order, and while Kusaribe and Kishiwada were threatening to have the whole lot of militarists hanged, Yamagata never said anything about killing the other side. This made him very admirable in the eyes of the international community, which could result in alliances. The other thing Yamagata had going for him was his General Staff. Yamagata, Kusanagi, Ryu, Nobunage, Atashir, all these men were famous and battle-harden generals. They earned the loyalty and favor of the troops they led, and these troops were battle-harden veterans who fought Russians, Chinese, British, and Spanish forces throughout the decades. The whole faction was united behind Yamagata, with no political divides, no political motives, only nationalist pride and pride for what Japan could become. Even though Yamagata was under-prepared and under-supplied, his troops could easily match the Imperialist forces in battle. Not to mention General Atashir's support not only led to Manila backing the Militarists, but the Ainu in Hokkaido growing closer to the faction their hero supports. These men had nationalist zeal, almost to a jingoist passion. They were ready to die for their country.

As the Civil War began, both sides sought to attack the other quickly. The Imperial Army moved down against Yamagata's forces in Kansai. However, a quick assault turned into a stalemate. Both sides were dug in on the Kansai-Chubu border, with no side presenting an advantage in overpowering the other. Trench warfare developed, as both sides would not budge. This would lead to a years long stalemate between both sides as neither could push through the other. With a lack of a navy as well, flanking was near impossible, and colonial reinforcements were too far away. As the casualties on the front line grew, both sides decided to try and gain the upper hand over their opponent. Both sides decided to try and find ways to get an advantage over the other as the war progressed further and further, and the trenches began to be filled with bodies. Either through peaceful or violent methods, one side would emerge victorious in the conflict.

Player Actions Needed: Okay so for the next two days we shall be conducting a series of events. Basically, each faction sends me an order, and I determine the success chance out of 100 based on reasonability and plausibility. I shall send each side separate images about their nation. This shall last two days, until Monday at 7:00 PM EST, when the fighting shall begin.

((Rules for orders:

I. Nothing crazy like "BOMB THE ENTIRE GOVERNMENT!". If it is not reasonable or plausible, I will ignore it.

II. No building troops.
Correct approach to getting more troops: "Instate a draft and organize units as such..."
Wrong approach: "BUILD THIRTY GUARDS IN EACH REGION PL0X"

III. No building ships.
Correct approach to getting ships: "Turn merchant convoys into assault/transport craft"
Wrong approach: "BUILD THIRTY STEAMERS AND FIFTY IRONCLADS!!!"

IV. Alliances with foreign powers shall be based on relations. The better the relationship between said nation and Japan before the civil war will determine the demands the nation has.

V. No military movements into enemy countries. You are not invading or attacking, your are undermining.

VI. Each faction gets ten orders total to use. Only the leader(s) of the faction, or someone he places to send the orders on his behalf, or someone who the leader trusts to make orders may send me civil war orders.

Thank you))

Kaiserreich Joins Yamagata!

Today, representatives of the Supreme War Council and our glorious Reich met in Potsdam to conclude a treaty of military support between the German Empire and the Asiatic Militarists of Japan led by one Yamagata Michitsura. Germany, after defeating the Russians and French, wishes to see the glory of the Reich extend into Asia, and has decided that a show of force could persuade the other European powers to stay away from Germany's influence in the lesser regions of China and Siam. The German government has signed bills sending marines and ships to Japan to aide the fledgling government in its fight against corruption and communist agitators in Edo. We here in Berlin wish them the best! The Japanese also agreed to the sum of 400,000 credits to pay off the German military movement, supplies, and munitions. While we fear they may have gained some money looting their own kin, the German government agreed to accept the sum and prepared an expeditionary force...

((Germany, after being paid 400,000 credits, leaving the Militarists 100,000 in debt, has allied with the Militarists))

----------------------------------------------

The Ainu Rebel!

The Ainu people of Hokkaido have revolted today against the Imperial government following requests of the Ainu General Atakshir to revolt. Atakshir has been a long time hero of the Ainu people, after his many victories in protecting Hokkaido against European influence, and after his clamor for more rights to the Ainu people, the Ainu viewed him as sort of a legend and leader. When Atakshir asked that the Ainu joined him in fighting against the oppressive Imperialists, they gladly rose up and declared their support of Yamagata. The Ainu easily secured Hokkaido since mot forces were concentrated in the front of the line. Hokkaido now belongs in the hands of the Militarists...

((After rolling VERY well, the Militarists have nabbed Hokkaido from the Imperialists, and gained a small rebel force in Hokkaido of about 9,000 irregulars))
[/QUOTE]

----------------------------------------------

Transport Fleet Defects!

Even though the fleet under the command of Date Munehiro has declared neutrality in the conflict, the Militarists managed to bribe, threaten, and exert pressure on the Transportation fleet to abandon neutrality and join the Militarist cause. While the combat fleet is still neutral, and the powerful ironclads remain under Imperial control, the transport fleet loss is a crippling blow to the Imperialist cause. Now without the means of transporting colonial troops, the Korean army is basically useless. Whats worse is that the Militarists can now ship in their colonial armies in the Philippines to help their effort, and possibly flank the Imperials in the North. The loss of the transportation fleet is a huge blow, but in terms of guns, the Imperials still control the seas...

((After rolling very well, the Militarists managed to take the Transport Fleet))

----------------------------------------------

Kusaribe and Kishiwada Attacked by Nationalist Gunners.

The Militarists have claimed responsibility for the attack against Prime Minister Kishiwada Yukio and President of the Emperor's Privy Council Kusaribe Kinzo. A nationalist and militarist sympathizer in Imperial Japan fired five shots at a speech in which both Kusaribe and Kishiwada were speaking at. Kusaribe Kinzo escaped with minor injuries, but Kishiwada was not as lucky. Kishiwada took two shots straight to the stomach, and was declared dead the next day. Militarist officers claimed responsibility for goading the assassin to attack the two men. Kishiwada's death struck Japan hard. The Prime Minister of Japan was now dead. In his vaccancy, the Emperor appointed Kusaribe Kinzo to act as Prime Minister of Japan, leaving him in charge of fighting against a clearly bloodthirsty and revenge seeking Yamagata. It is clear that the Imperialist situation is growing worse and worse each waking day...

((The Militarists tried to kill both Kusaribe and Kishiwada, and managed to kill Kishiwada. Mrlifeless's character is now dead, and Keinwyn takes over his position as Prime Minister of Japan. This means Keinwyn is the official head and leader of the Imperialist movement))

((That was six orders from the militarists. They now have four orders left. Hold off on militarists orders. Once the Imperials get six of their orders in, I shall let the militarists send me their last four))
