In one of my game a duke holds 5 duchy titles, and one land half the globe away. His liege(the king of East Francia) loss the war and the whole kingdom (which contain all 5 of the duke's duchy) become part of italy kingdom.
Because the duke have one piece of land out side the kingdom De Jure, he is NOT transfer to king of Italy as vassal, instead he continue to be the vassal of his old King ( which still hold little land outside east francia De Jure)

The duke cannot join war, cannot resist, cannot do anything and next day when he wake up he lost everything but one piece of shitty land...... (he did keep all his title, which also become problem of Italy king as he cannot grant those title out)

The problem is under current game rule, as long as any character still have one holding, he is not part of the transfer of their liege's war. No matter how many thing he loss, he cannot fight nor choose his liege.
