Chapter III
“It’s gone.”
The creature looked up.
“What is gone?”
The Watcher pointed to the screen.
10/10/10 science is pretty good!
“The Infinity Sphere, it went into the black hole. The science the humans will get from it…”
The creature looked at the image.
“There is a lot of unclaimed systems between them, though. If only they have the time for it…”
They did have time. The system to the right with the yellow icon is where it's at. It took a decade or so though.
The Watcher smiled.
“I think the cockroaches might leave them alone for now. The human fleet is getting bigger.”
It's better, if not good.
The creature scoffed.
“But at what price? Their income has plummeted… They need peace now more than ever.”
Economy went from +60s to...this in minerals. All due to ships.
He smirked.
“And those marauders… The humans need to pay them off still, I see. Their fleet is no match, half of the marauder strength, no?”
Pesky mauraders, some day I promise you...
The Watcher sighed.
“They barely have the resources to both expand, improve their economy and pay them off. The one time they didn’t, they had to reconsider when the marauder fleet approached. Barbarians…”
Finally! Defence pact with our other neighbour!
The creature clucked his tongue.
“Look at this. They own two wormhole portals, soon they might get to use them too. Not too bad.”
The Watcher grinned.
“Not bad at all. There might yet be hope.”
The creature turned towards The Watcher.
Interesting developments, no?
“You like these humans, you really do. A pity you can’t intervene…”
The Watcher laughted.
“Sadly, that is not our mission. Tea?”
“It’s gone.”
