1976

I forgot to save the screen shot for the 1976 Spring turn so here's what happened the whole year.

Northern Front

In the spring, I moved my navies around to gain control of the North Atlantic and still occupy all the northern water provinces. In the fall, I convoyed an army from Norway to Clyde (NW Britain) using the Norwegian Sea navy.

The NATO Bear moved his navy from London to Liverpool via Wales.

In the spring, the French Lion reoccupied London from the English Channel and moved his second navy from Brest to the Channel. His army in England ended up in Edinburgh. When I forgot to support my North Sea navy in the fall, the Lion drove me back to Norway with his London navy with support from the Channel. The Lion also occupied the Ruhr.

Southern Front

I isolated the Bear's navies in Italy by occupying Tunis (spring) and the Tyrrhenian Sea (fall) moving my navies from the eastern Med. to the central Med. I also moved armies from the Balkans into Italy.

Overall Impression

If the Bear and Lion agree to my terms, the war will end in 1977. What will be left of the once mighty NATO?

Spring 1977

Spring 1977

I drove the French Lion's North Sea navy to Edinburgh when I attacked from Norway. With support from the North Atlantic, my army in Clyde forced the NATO Bear's navy out of Liverpool. I don't know why it disbanded instead of retreating.

I completed my conquest of Italy; the surrounded NATO navies disbanded. I moved into Marseilles when the Lion left it undefended. The Bear's surviving navy moved into Spain (also undefended by the Lion).

I am suprised that the bear is still able to put up a fight (as in capturing supply centers)

Not for long though ;)

LOL! France is your biggest threat now!

Well, victory isn't that far off now is it?

The NATO Bear can capture undefended supply centers; there aren't many of those left.

France became the biggest threat at the end of 1976 when he overtook NATO in supply centers. He will stay the biggest threat but I am going to start taking his supply centers soon.

Fall 1977

Fall 1977

I captured Edinburgh from the French Lion and Holland from the NATO Bear. The Lion recaptured London from the Bear. The Lion moved from the Ruhr to Belgium so the Bear could retreat to the Ruhr. As I move to the negotiating table, here are the force totals:
NATO Bear - 2 supply centers, 1 army, 1 navy
French Lion - 5 supply centers, 4 armies, 1 navy
Warsaw Pact - 30 supply centers (4 more than the 26 required for victory in this modification), 11 armies, 11 navies
As you might expect, I have some very firm demands for the Bear and Lion to accept.

1978-1980

1978-1980

Radio Paris Broadcast, March 1978:
After we and NATO rejected the warmongering Soviets' unreasonable peace terms, we have bolstered our forces by absorbing the last NATO army (in the Ruhr) into one of our own.

CBS Broadcast, April 1978:
NATO forces (U.S., Greek, Italian, and Turkish) were driven from Spain to Portugal by the Soviet hordes today.

CBS Broadcast, October 1978:
The last NATO forces in Europe were defeated today by the overwhelming Soviet forces advancing from Spain and the Mid-Atlantic in a combined amphibious-land-sea assault on Lisbon. Our more advanced ships were sunk by enemy fire or scuttled to prevent their capture.

Radio Paris, November 1978:
The last free province of Germany has fallen to the onrushing Soviet armies despite gallant resistance from the French, American, British and German defenders.

BBC Broadcast, November 1979:
Soviet forces continue to advance south against French resistance.

BBC Broadcast, July 1979:
We have been freed from French oppression by Soviet forces. New elections will be held next month.

Radio Paris, October 1979:
Peace-loving members of the French military, throw down your weapons and refuse to fight for your capitalist oppressors. Since we have thrown them out of their leadership positions in your capital, you can see their resistance is futile.

English translation of a Radio Moscow Broadcast on 2 April 1980:
The last army of warmongering, French capitalists was defeated yesterday in the Battle of Picardy, France. The new socialist governments of Europe have withdrawn from the imperialistic North Atlantic Treaty Organization and joined our peaceful Warsaw Pact. This is the greatest reason to rejoice since the end of the Great Patriotic War in 1945. We will celebrate International Worker's Day (1 May 1980) in great style this year.

Volksmarschall, this final post was mostly for you.

"The Soviet Army knows only one language: Action. Respects only one word: Force"

Drive forward until there is nowhere left to go! :p

Have I satisfied your directive?;)

I loved how the radio broadcast changed over time. It sure reflects the ideology :D

Nice job

Thanks for the compliments

Mostly I was trying to indicate censorship, using ideology, as the broadcasters dealt with changing circumstances.

My literary training focused on presenting facts: historical, technical, etc. I did enjoy writing the phony-casts for the final stage of this war, the only fiction I can remember writing. :D I'm wondering if I could write a AAR using phony military dispatches and civilian news flashes, enjoy it, and delight readers.
