Unchartered Territories?

hi all, I have a question:

I have just started a game as the Incas. I've annexed the one and only civ I have access to but now I'm a bit stuck. Everywhere around me are uncharted territories that I can't seem to get into. When I try it says I need a conquistador or wait until I hit land tech 31. Umm, I'm at land tech 1 at the moment and 2 is taking an awful long time to get to. I really can't see that happening anytime soon.

So my question is, how do I explore the rest of the world? When playing as Nippon in another game I would randomly have others appear. As the Inca's I've not had that happen and we are up to 1460 so far. Is there something that affects how you can discover these?

If you lucky you will get a random conquistador , if not you will have to wait till Spain reach you.

Welcome to the world of exotic pagans!
Legally, there is no other way than to wait till the Spanish arrive. A few wars will speed up your research a bit, but land31 will be still far, far away. Check your leaders file, maybe there are some historical conquistadors for the Incas. If not, then your only hope is to get a random one. Litlle chance, however.

Even after Spain reaches you won't gain any new knowledge (except of the Spanish capital). Try getting into an alliance with Spain so when they ask you to honour it during wars you'll gain knowledge of new nations.
