Aren't these guys supposed to build more dimensional anchors and consume the galaxy? All they're doing is going from planet to planet feasting, nothing else. Their territory isn't exactly increasing with much speed.... at all.

If you go into the situation log and look at the "Unbidden" event, you can see how many ships/worlds they have destroyed. In my last game, the Unbidden didn't expand very much the first 30'ish years, and I then checked the situation log. Apperently, the AI empires (including an awakened empire) have been sending wave after wave of fleets to try and stop them, so that was the reason the Unbidden was slowed down, at least for me.

I never let them get that far. Since 1.4.1, I have been blowing up their fleets and portal almost as soon as they appear. I think this is because by taking on and defeating an FE or 2 early on, I get Jump Drives and Psi Jump Drives and this makes the Unbidden appear in or near my borders.

They'll usually stay close to the portal and surrounding systems for the first few years while the construction ships build Void Junctions and Dimensional Anchors. Once those are finished they'll start expanding.

The construction ships are just over their initial portal, not doing anything. They apparently haven't built a single dimensional anchor yet. I might just wipe them out, build up my ringworlds, and spawn the prethoryn scourge to let them wipe the galaxy. Then I'll spawn some new primitive civs and I'll be the fallen empire.

I've had unbidden spawn in my empire three times of the three times they've spawned in any of my games. I don't give them a chance to expand either, but they'll build fortresses initially and start attacking neighboring systems of mine.

I would have to wait like 200 years for them to spread across the galaxy, don't have that patience. Would rather just see the scourge do it in a reasonable amount of time, and they'd be easier for me to mop up due to their ship design.

I think it's something similar to some silly other AI will do. A corvette pops in their space, and they will go stackwipe it with all their fleet. With many AI's doing that, it keeps them occupied for quite some time. An empire awakened to stop them too, and that one couldn't beat the Unbidden either. They certainly had the fleets to expand their blob further but didn't do so. I got my fleet wiped by them, took me ages to rebuild a bigger fleet, but Unbidden were still hanging around in their space by the time the new, better fleet arrived.

That was before the anchors, though. More recently, we only had the Unbidden spawn in our space from early Jump Drive so we always had to crush them at once!
