Would post in the bug report forum, but I can't due to being on probation ;)

I've run two observer games so far that have both seen the Unbidden show up. They always stall after destroying a system or two and just seem to sit around. Even after their constructors have built their military stations and are sitting around with no orders, they do nothing.

However, if you save the game and then reload that save, the Unbidden suddenly spring to life and get back to work, even though it's exactly the same date on the in-game clock.

Can confirm, the same thing is happening to me. The Unbidden destroy a few systems and then just drop dead. After saving and reloading they spring back to life as mentioned above, but again, they'll only destroy a few systems and drop dead again. They've been there for about 50 years, face barely any opposition and have built only one subspace anchor...

Had that same thing happen in my game as well. Was hoping they would knock over an Awakened empire that was my overlord.
Sadly I don't have a save game to upload.

If it matters, my empire were pacifist, spiritualist, xenophile now they're space dust after getting drawn into a war against two AE's from a long forgotten independence guarantee.

Same here. They spawned inside my neighbor fairly close to my border, so I was pretty worried. Wiped out most of the neighboring empire, ate a few worlds beyond that, put down a single anchor, and just stopped. Two fleets of ~77k came into my territory, went to a black hole close to the border, and just sat in that system doing nothing for several decades. I eventually went in and cleared them out; four more fleets of 77~83k immediately came rushing in afterwards and did the same thing, sat around for decades doing nothing. Aside from a single fleet in the rift system I think the entirety of Unbidden forces are now sitting around this black hole just chilling.

On the other hand, I did see an AI fleet from a fairly distant empire come in and take out the anchor. Nice to see the AI responding to the threat.

Really? In my galaxy they started eating everything in sight. Instead of the unbidden stalling out, the AI empires sort of just sat around until after several of their planets got eaten, despite both the FE and the normal empire that they spawned in both having big enough fleets to wipe out the unbidden when they spawned. After taking out both the xeno FE (to stop them from awaking from the other FE having planets eaten), then the spiritualist FE (since it decided IMMEDIATELY AFTER the unbidden completely destroyed its fleet that it would be worth it to attack me for taking its gaia worlds), then I wiped out the unbidden (who somehow were able to build an anchor inside someone else's owned system.)

This bug has shown up in both of my observer games and it has very predictable behaviour, so it's not smoke and mirrors. After conquering a system or two, you will absolutely find the Unbidden standing around twiddling their thumbs, and saving/reloading will absolutely fix that problem until they conquer another system or two, at which point they stall again...

I wish that happened on my game. Got caught flat footed when they appeared in my core systems. I now have no fleet, most of my core is gone and my founding species is now extinct

Perhaps that's the difference, in my game they spawned on almost the other side of the galaxy. The Awakened empire, and a couple of other empires were between me and the unbidden, they did nothing about it.
At one point I sent a corvette to the anchor and yep, they were still there, not doing much of anything.

No mods installed, all DLC's are installed if that helps any.

That kind of happened in my game.

Also noticed the AI did actually fight the unbidden for once....10 empires stacked their ships on the portal but completely ignored the dimensional anchor till i went over and poked it.

They do seem to incrementally start throwing fleets at the unbidden as more planets get eaten, but the ones who are actually getting eaten tend to do so too little, too late. Not only have they lost planets, but they also waste too much of their fleet sending only sections of it to fight the unbidden at any given moment in time... And then they are left with nothing, and the unbidden finish them off

(meanwhile by the end, my federation members on the other side of the galaxy had 30-50k fleets running around the unbidden territory, culminating in 300k of my federation's firepower in the final battle vs. the portal and all the unbidden fleets at once, where of course some dinky vassal gets the credit for closing the portal, despite my 120k primary fleet being there)

In my playthroughs so far, the Unbidden start gobbling up everyone and everything.
In my current playthrough an Awakened Empire got consumed by them. To be completely fair, it was during the War in Heaven. Still, the Awakened Empire could have destroyed the portal themselves (as it spawned inside their borders) but didn't.
I mean, it didn't bother me too much this round because I got their planets with cool non-researchable tech.
The other AI empires, in all my games so far, do little or nothing at all to combat the Unbidden. Even the Guardians of the Galaxy don't seem to do that much.

Yes, the problem is they "start" but they soon stop as well (after 2-3 systems) until you save/reload. This has happened with unfailing consistency in the two observer games I've run, to the point of being reliably predictable.

Didn't happen in my game, they expanded quite a bit until I got around to wiping them out. They had built 4 ankers and were working on number 5 when I got around to dealing with them. Completely wiped out one of my vassals in the process, but I was fighting in two other wars at the time.

The AI empires including the FEs were no help whatsoever though. It was kind of funny, the Xenophile empire awoke just after I defeated the Unbidden, with a Custodial attitude no less, making them no threat at all.

Yhea, crisis invaders still seem to get stuck for me too.

2 things ususally happen, I crush them as early as possible or they start really far away and end up being anticlimactic.

It seem to be also affecting player ships from time to time. I hade my constructors and sci ships forgeting what they were supposed to do. They would just sit there untill i reload game or move them around system a bit.

They spawned in a near empire with 5 fleets 60k each...they have harvested the proximity planets in border and then sitting around "with no orders and in aggressive stance"...meanwhile their construction ships have built a dimensional anchor...i have taked down every single fleet with my 190k fleet plasma/flak artillery/disruptor/neutron torpedo and then i jump directly on the planet that have the dimensional portal...i have destroyed directly portal size even though it was still on the dimensional anchor (i think is a bug)
