Hello all, I just purchased BATTLETECH during the current Steam sale and I've been dying to play it since I last played when it was temporarily free to play a long time ago.
Unfortunately, now, after I purchased the mercenary collection, the game always gives me a prompt before loading the main menu that it's unable to initiate the Steam API, then closes.
I've tried restarting steam, using steam beta, running steam in administrator, uninstalling as instructed here, running the game in administrator, and updating my video drivers.
One peculiar thing I noticed is that when I used the 1.8.1 version, it worked perfectly fine, but upon trying 1.9.1 again, it doesn't work.
Ideally I'd like to play 1.9.1 in case friends get the game, and would also like to like to avoid refunding this game as I've been a fan of the franchise my whole life.
Any idea on how to fix this issue?
