Ok, so I am a multi-Duchess in Ireland and my heir (son) was in place before I knocked off the Duke of Upper Burgundy so my husband/(then my heir) would inherit w/o complication of kids on Burgandy's end.
The problem now is even though I have more prestige and hold more duchy titles then my husband, the game has given custody per se of my son to him. And irritatingly enough I get the "held hostage by foreign power" message if I ask to educate him. I'm no expert, but I would think this is not historical?
So now I'm going to have a major headache with an heir who is not well trained by the looks of it and presumably will convert to German culture. Upper Burgundy is under Gravelkind law and I figured I'd deal with that when needed. Under my educational control, at least, the worst case is that I'd have a different culture ruling UB unless guardianship/genetics went wrong.
I could almost swear I've been in this situation before even with a female ruler. On one occasion it was Queen/King level but don't recall this scenario.
TL; DR So is the "guardian" between two ruling parents determined by the size of the biggest duchy or is this a bias towards patriarchy even though it's a mat marriage? Nothing else comes to mind. Either way, I'm not very fond of it. :-/
P.S. This heir could be the first King of Ireland to make matters worse -- with likely problems with Scotland or England. Would be nice if he wasn't a failcake to start.
