Title. I don't know why, but when I click the links to download the latest hip it opens a link but then immediately closes it with no information and I am a bit confused? There isn't popups of antivirus or anything so I'm a bit lost on what to do

It's potentially either your browser or security software/-addon closing it.

Another way to download from the Download/FAQ thread is by right clicking on the download link and then selecting 'save target as'.
