Unable to create roads even though I'm below the limits (according to the "Show Limits" mod)

I'm currently unable to make any new roads or rail in my game, even though the "Show Limits" mod says I'm well below all limits (excluding trees, but I've removed plenty already and still have the issue).

The game allows me to remove existing roads, and the mod shows both the number of roads and the number of intersections decreasing, but I am still unable to place new ones even after deletion.

My current questions are:
  • Does the game still think I have 32k roads because it's remembering ones I've deleted?
  • Is there something I'm doing wrong, where there's a simple fix and I'm an idiot? (please be the case)
  • Has this been fixed but I have to start a new map? (please please don't be the case)
  • Is it something completely unrelated to the roads, or an object on the road which is unable to be created?
  • Is the mod completely and utterly wrong and should be ignored at all costs?
I've already tried disabling all the mods that I can, and setting Traffic++ to ghost mode, but I still get the error. Also note that I'm only using the standard 9 tiles with the game, which people say should be very hard to hit the limits, but I've managed with plenty of empty space on my map.

Thanks.

Thanks.

1) if you had this object limit before deleting roads, then the game is broken. It remembers you hit the limit and prevents you from continuing your game.

You need to go back to a previous saved game before you reached your limit.

2) load previous saved game before the object error occurred.

3) No fix, and no need to start a new map if you saved your game or enabled autosave.

4) Road limits include bus stops as well. Probably other mass-transit stops as well. probally train tracks too.

5) Mod seems correct. at least when I tested it on my broken city.

Hey thanks for the help. I reverted back to an earlier save and tried again and managed to get past the error, which is great!

This has made me realise a few things:
Firstly, I had hit the tree limit before getting the previous error, however I thought it was unrelated so neglected to include it in here. It appears that hitting the tree limit also causes the game to think you've hit the road limit and stops you from creating them, as this time around I cleared a bunch of trees first, then I made the roads and passed the road count I'd hit before.

Oh well, at least it's solved now. Thanks again.

Just coming back to this thread again to report something new, but related (and I think what caused the problem in the first place):

If the game crashes during a save, which it does every now and again I can no longer build roads as it thinks I've hit the limit on that save. I've not completely tracked it down yet, but I've made sure to check before I save if I could still create roads, and I have been able to for each one. After the crash, I can no longer create any roads in any older saves. Just thought I should report this now, and come back if it does it again, or I eventually get it working. It'd be nice if someone knew what was going on though, as it's rather irritating to have to go back a few days to find a save which actually works, only to have it mess up when the game crashes.
