Televised (and taped for later rebroadcast and use in campaign commercials) in front of a hall full of United Moderate Party members, VP and MIDA Loic de Fourgéres steps up the podium.
"My name is Loic de Fourgéres. I am here before you to today running for President. They say half of the battle is just showing up. This basic requirement has not been met by some of your elected and appointed officials for the past two terms. You know what to expect from me. You know what to expect from my record. I will be active and involved. If elected President, I will hold my cabinet ministers to the same standard.

I am running on the slate of the United Moderate Party. It has had a substantial influx of members from the former P4P. That included me. We were able to find a large enough area of agreement on platform issues. But more importantly, thought that together we could achieve, with your help, our aims for improving the lives of our fellow citizens.

Naturally, I will give preference to qualified potential cabinet members from our party. But not exclusively so. I will also consider qualified independents. I will consider those from the parties to left or the right. I will look for the best person for each post. Of course, they would need to agree to work within the administration’s pragmatic program. But most of a minister’s work is not political. This it need not be an issue.

I promise you this: any cabinet minister who becomes inactive will be replaced. It won’t matter whether they are from the UMP or not, this I assure you. Our fair island has been buffeted by a series of nasty events. Some of these have natural causes, some man-made. Of the man-made kind, some are home grown; foreigners have abetted others. Such events require prompt intervention by an alert administration. I hope that will become the hallmark of my administration. Prompt reaction will be assured by a three-fold approach. A cabinet minister is always empowered to take immediate action in the areas within his portfolio. They will be encouraged to do so. The cabinet will meet regularly to formulate the administration’s response and to allocate responsibilities, if they were not already clear. Finally, a Federal Emergency Response Agency will be created to coordinate inter-ministerial action. This will be assigned to a cabinet level officer.

I would also like to encourage you to vote for the United Moderate Party’s slate for the General Assembly. The current Speaker of the General Assembly, John O’Floinn, heads the slate. He helped get the GA working again after the courts were obliged to intervene. The constitution of the United Provinces of Eutopia wisely put limit on what an administration can achieve by itself. If I am elected President, I will work with whomever is elected to the GA, presenting a long overdue budget in a timely fashion, and making sure various administrative actions are properly back by appropriate legislation. This will be easier if the UMP has a healthy share of the MGAs.

In upcoming speeches, my fellow party members and I will share the United Moderate Party’s program or views. Any program will require some modifications due to changing circumstances, which is why I feel that the people you elect, and their work ethic, their dedication, is more important than the details of the party platform. This is why, in this first speech, I am stressing our presence and experience. I will be there for you. The cabinet I appoint will be there as well, or they will be replaced with someone who is."

With the main MIDA building in the capital city as a backdrop, UMP presidential candidate Loic de Fourgéres addresses a mixed crowd of MIDA employees and UMP supporters. The speech is televised and recorded for use in future party political broadcasts.

"My name is Loic de Fourgéres. I am here before you to today running for President. In my first speech I stressed what kind of President I would be. I would be active. I would lead an involved administration. There are five cabinet posts. In the next five speeches, I will speak about my ideas for each ministry. The ministry I have the most experience with is MIDA. Therefore, I will speak about that one first.

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Domestic Affairs touches many aspects of your daily life. It includes the postal service. It regulates air transportation. It handles Federal law enforcement, through FLEA. While I have been minister, I have worked to improve FLEA. The agents risk their lives for us daily. The risk is now lower, as there are now bulletproof vests for every agent. They are now more representative of the United Provinces as whole, as we have increased recruitment of people from under-represented heritages. They now serve us, the private Eutopian citizens better, as they are better trained in respecting our constitutional rights.

I worked for your security as a cabinet minister. We have increased the recruitment of FLEA agents. To try to prevent a recurrence of the terrible tragedy of the ECB bombing, we have implemented ‘rings of steel’ in both the capital and New Lancaster City, and are working with provincial authorities to implement them in other key locations. These have had the additional favorable by-products of virtually eliminating muggings and car thefts within the rings. We took temporary measures to make other government buildings more secure against attacks. Work is underway to replace the temporary measures with permanent and more attractive safety enhancements. This doesn’t just protect government workers. It protects citizens who are going to the post office or running errands at other government buildings. Under my leadership, MIDA is in the forefront among all the ministries in this matter. If I am elected president, I will make sure the others get with the program.

We have repurchased the foreign owned toll roads within our borders. This was negotiated by the prior administration, by UMP member Jake Langley. But it was not completed due to legislative inactivity. I was able to find a way around this obstacle. In less than two weeks the highways will be back in our hands. The tolls will be lowered. This will relieve congestion on certain secondary highways. That has two benefits: lower pollution and fewer accidents. We will selectively expand the highway network. This will provide jobs. This, and other infrastructure improvements make our economy more efficient. Some of this will have to be worked out by the next MIDA. After all, he has to do something to earn his pay.

Now this may not be most exciting stuff. But I think our country has had more than enough excitement for a while, don’t you? If you elect me as your president, I will focus on delivering practical, pragmatic policies and programs to improve our lives. I can’t promise that it won’t be exciting, but I will try to make it that way."

The UMP Presidential candidate is back in a studio again for his third speech. After the opening UMP logo, video shows the Vice President and MIDA conferring with the Deputy MDIS, in between him entering and leaving the Quadragon. The image dissolves to show Loic de Fourgéres sitting behind a desk. The telepromters are far enough away that he can focus on them without his reading glasses, but he has key parts of the speech memorized and has rehearsed it, it will appear fairly natural. The studio audience is made up of UMP supporters, many of them in military uniforms, as they were given preference.

"My name is Loic de Fourgéres. I am here before you to today running for President. I have already talked about being an active president leading an involved administration. I have spoken of my record as the cabinet minister for MIDA. Today I want to speak to you about my plans for another ministry, MDIS.

The Ministry of Defense, Intelligence and Security is responsible for our armed forces. Our military was impacted by the separation of St. Esprit and Tilapia. All three countries were left with somewhat unbalanced forces relative to our needs and geographies. We have continued to be subject to arms embargoes from the US and the European Union, which prevented us from ordering the replacement equipment and parts we need. We have been able to produce a fair number of high quality modern tanks. However, those are most suited in an offensive ground war. Given that our only neighbors are St. Esprit and Tilapia, we are not planning anything of the sort. We will therefore make sure that equal numbers of outdated tanks, mostly dating from the 1980’s based on 1970’s technology, are taken out of service. Those will be sold or scrapped. We plan to enter into discussions with our neighbors about appropriate force levels. Depending on the results of those discussions we may be able to sell them some export versions of those tanks. We will also see if our local product can compete in the world market. These steps will keep the ENDTech workers on that production line employed. Some workers will eventually shift to production of other military vehicles and artillery. The research and development area will be enhanced to permit other, more modern equipment to be designed and produced locally.

Our air force has suffered severely from the arms embargoes, due the inability to get crucial spare parts. In my next speech, in which I will cover my plans for the MTIA, I will outline how I hope to end that. But, we must be prepared for the possibility that we will have to work within its constraints for years. We must be able to reconstitute an effective air force. We must be able to count on local air superiority. Recruiting for the air force has suffered worse than for any other service. This means the young pers of the UPE know the problems that our air force faces. I know as well. My administration will propose a budget that will begin the process of restoring our air force.

The navy presents some challenges as well. Some minor ships are under construction. They should be completed and commissioned. Beyond that, I don’t think we have reached a consensus about exactly what the navy’s future profile should look like. You may have come to expect an instant answer on any topic from a politician. Well, in this case, my answer is that I think we need to study it first. The answers will depend on what sort of progress we make on the diplomatic front.

If we do all this, and do it properly, there will be many benefits for our country. Some of these benefits will be hard to see, like the war we didn’t have to fight, because we were prepared, so our potential enemy had second thoughts. Others will be obvious, like the local impact of the defense production jobs. A big question remains. How will be pay for this? That is the prerogative of legislative branch, but I expect the funds to come from three sources. There are some existing budgeted revenues that are not being spent. This is due to two factors. One is under-enlistment. The other is the arms embargos, which have meant lower operational and capital expenses. We have been flying less than scheduled, due to a lack of spare parts. We have not been purchasing those parts. The rest of the funds will come from either increased government revenues or borrowing. By increased government revenues, I don’t necessarily mean higher taxes. I will discuss that in my speech on MERL. But as I said, the exact details will be worked out in the legislature.

It is not pay alone that attracts people into the military for a few years or for a career. There is usually a good helping of patriotism as well. It is incumbent on us to provide them the right tools to work with, and accord them the honor that they are due. Providing tools will be a gradual process, given our constraints. But the honor and respect can be immediately, or will begin immediately after the election. Part of this is having an active and responsive MDIS, with an administration who will support their plans to re-build the air force and continue modernization of the armed forces. That I can promise you, if you elect me."

Major Edward Braxton stands up behind the podium and starts to deliver his speech.

I am Major Edward Braxton and I am here before you running for a seat in the General Assembly. I was a military man by trade until a few months a go in which I was honorably discharged from the army on account of an illness which did not allow me to serve my country in a manner which was expected.

So their I was plunged into the world of civilian life with no friends and nothing going for me so I decided to open up a small tea room where I met Mr. Loic de Fourgéres who persuaded me join Moderate party this was the perfect opportunity for me because I still yearned to serve my country in any way that was possible so I joined the party and took part in some of their meetings and found out that they were a bunch of nice chaps. But enough now about I and how I got into the party lets now talk about the party it's self.

As you all know that because we are a moderate party we look at all the angles, see all the opportunities and problems that could arise and then seek an balance between the positives and negatives to gain the best deal possible which means that Eutopia and her citizens will get the best deal possible with none of the decisions that are made will favour one branch of society over the next. This leads to less conflict between the people of Eutopia as every citizen and every aspect of socitey is taken into consideration when we are making legislation. and a country that is strong and unified on the home front is strong on the international front! So what type of country do you want one that if full of soical divison or one that is unified with one goal in it's mind a goal that Eutopia will become one of the greatest countries in the WORLD!!!

Thank you people of Eutopia for listening to me.

With this Major Braxton steps down from the podium and slowly walks away.

Of Topic:I would like some feed back on how people thought this speech from anyone but especially from UMP so don't hesitate to PM me please be brutaly
honest.

The UMP Presidential candidate's next speech is at a community center in a Western Saharan neighborhood in Hurteau, where the audience has been carefully screened, and packed with UMP supporters, with those of Western Saharan extraction seated near the front. The speech is televised, and taped for use in party political broadcasts.

"My name is Loic de Fourgéres. I am here before you today running for President. I have been nominated by the United Moderate Party. I am asking for your support. I have already talked about my role as an active president. I have spoken of my record at MIDA and my plans for MDIS and our armed forces. Today I want to speak to you about foreign relations, including immigration and trade, as well as my plans for the MTIA.

The Ministry of Trade and International Affairs is the ministry I would most like to keep for myself. However, that decision will depend on the team of cabinet members I can put together and their talents. Eutopia has had an isolationist tendency. We have suffered because of it. That was easier before. But now we share our island with St. Esprit and Tilapia. Thus, isolationism is no longer practical. We are and must be involved with our neighbors. I was involved in founding CAFTA, the free trade zone on our island. That was the first formal link with our neighbors. I have a good rapport with the ambassadors of both nations. In my administration, I would like to our relations grow even friendlier. I will work to achieve that goal.

But the world is wider than our fair island. I would seek to have our nation join NATO. This move has its plusses and minus. We would have to be willing to provide some troops for peacekeeping duties overseas. We would have to accept the continued presence of the US base in Western Eutopia. But these two disadvantages are far outweighed by the multitude of advantages. The arms embargos would be lifted. This would rapidly let us get our air force flying again. This would let us efficiently modernize our forces. As part of NATO, we could prudently have a smaller military than we have one the books today. Thus, there would be budgetary savings. And most importantly, we would be protected against foreign aggression by the foremost alliance in the world.

Internationally, we need to speak out for democracy where it has been trod on by dictators. The world is a big place. So we must choose where to expended our effort. This effort must be concentrated where have some links to the oppressed people. Countries like Cuba or Western Sahara would be possibilities. This should be supplemented by enhanced acceptance of refugees and asylum seekers. I am not advocating a complete ‘open door’ policy. But people with a connection, those who can find a support network among our citizens, and who really want to be here, should be welcomed. Refugees who merely want to be anywhere but where they came from should be given temporary shelter if they arrive here, and assisted towards a suitable permanent residence where the conditions for their success are in place.

My stance on trade is fairly well known. As a founder of CAFTA, you know I prefer free trade. There are several reasons. Free trade will promote our economic growth in general. It will enhance our standard of living. It will foster better relations with our trading partners. Shifts from the residuals of our legacy of an isolationist trading-regime will mean changes. Some our products will meet stiff competition from abroad. This has impacted our softwood lumber and paper pulp producers. Free trade, in the context of the WTO doesn’t mean ‘anything goes’. We will make sure that no dumping, or anti-competitive trading practices are being used to grab our markets. We will invest selectively to deal with the impact of these shifts. We will work to develop new markets for our local products or alternative products. For example, most wood producers at our latitudes produce more hardwoods than softwoods. This will take time to have effect, but it is a step that should benefit our children. We will re-train workers in effected industries, as this cheaper than welfare or unemployment. At my suggestion, a pilot-program like this has been implemented by the current administration, to re-train some laid-off coal miners. I would hope the initial results would be available shortly."

I am Major Edward Braxton a member of the UMP running for the GA. And I am outraged at the fact the Mr Olson has the nerve to say that we in fact do not need local air superiority You Mr Olson must have never been in a war zone you don't know what what it's like to sit in a muddy fox hole with your comarades your friends around you dead. At times like these moral is at a all time low I have seen grown men start crying and I have had to stop my fair share of suicides because of it.

You might all be saying whats this got to do with air superiority I will tell you what when your sitting in a fox hole and you know that your friends are in the air protecting you against tanks and other armoured divisons you are able to get over monetarily the pain and torment you have been going thru knowing that in the air you are winning knowing that their is a chance of victory or a least a ceasefire.

But you don't know that Mr Olson because you have never been their and you mostly likely never will. Mr Fourgeres would not allow the ranks to increase through conscription as he would not want anyone against their will to go through the things I have had to do or witness.

The Local air superiority does not mean we shall be able to wage war against our neighbours but it will allow us to give the United Nations aid with peace keeping missions by givin them a decent contrbution and still beable to defend our home shores

Once again my friends I thank you for hearing me out.

Good evening, my fellow Eutopians. As many of you know, I am John O'Floinn, former President and current Speaker of the General Assembly.

You know what I've really liked about this campaign so far? No negativity. Why is this? Well, the ESA is too inactive, and the CUE lacks the manpower. And my own party? Well, I simply hadn't hit the campaign trail yet!

Now, a lot of people might call what I'm about to do aimless negativity. Well, I'd say that it's quite well aimed. The truth isn't always peaches and cream, my friends.

The truth, is that you've been robbed. That's it. You've been robbed blind. Last election, the ESA pulled out a massive triumph. And what did they do with it? Nothing. They matched every centrist and conservative administration in inactivity, bill for bill, ministry for ministry. As Josephus has critized so many administrations for doing, he failed to produce a budget for his term.

You all voted for a party you thought you could count on. When a conservative screws you, he tells you about it, so you can accept it. When a moderate screws you, you're not that angry, because you know he's screwing over everyone else too. But when a socialist screws you, you'd never even know it. Last election, Eutopia fell victim to the wolf in sheep's clothing.

Perhaps you've seen a story in the news about the failure of the PDRA. A bill put up by the ESA. Well, one ESA member showed up to vote on it. The other two votes were put up by the UMP and CUE.

That's right, a conservative and a centrist are pushing the ESA's agenda harder than the ESA is.

For years, the ESA was the party of the poor and oppressed, because the party itself was poor and oppressed. Now we know why the socialist movement held such little support in the past. Now we know why Josephus Sergei failed to gain the Presidency so many times before he succeded.

It's time we brought back real political activity, and did away with simple party activism. It's time for a leader with vision, and an Assembly to back him up. Vote Loic de Fourgères and the UMP.

Hello Eutopians as you know I am Major Edward Braxton and am here talk to you not as a Poltican but as a friend all because you are part of a political party does not make you any diffrent form the ordinary people of Eutopia.

We all have are duty in this world we all have a calling and my calling was to serve my country in any way possible, and now as the elections are now here a wish all the other parties good luck. If you think of this as insincere well I have another thing coming I have eaten at a restaraunt owned by a CUE member and have even offered to buy Mr Olson a drink. So as the votes are now starting to happen I wish all the other political parties the best of luck.

Still in the studio, but with a different suit and tie and a different audience, again all still UMP supporters, but this time including some businessmen, laid-off coal miners, and shipbuilders, the UMP Presidential candidate begins his speech, which is televised and recorded for use in party political broadcasts.

"My name is Loic de Fourgéres. I am here before you to today running for President. I have spoken about how I plan to keep my administration responsive. I have covered MIDA, MDIS, and MTIA. Today I want to speak about what I expect from MERL.

The Ministry of the Economy, Resources, and Labour impacts your working life. However, it shares the responsibility for guiding our economy with the independent central bank. As such, it is important to work in concert with the ECB, not to try to undo what they have done. I support the independence of the central bank. In most countries, this has led to less inflation, and fewer or milder recessions. However, our inflation has crept up to unacceptable high levels. The ECB has taken steps to try to bring this under control, but the bad effects have already been felt. Inflation is stealthy tax. It raises your tax bracket without the General Assembly acting. It lowers your real wages. In raising rates, the ECB is engineering a recession to combat inflation. To some, the treatment may seem worse than the disease. If the government tries to mitigate it, it will only drag out the process. Therefore, I support the ECB efforts, and hope that this will be quickly behind us. The other major impact the government has on the economy is spending and taxes, and their difference, the deficit. This is primarily the responsibility of the GA, so I will cover it in a later speech. What the administration can do is to help the economy be more efficient. MIDA will invest in infrastructure. MERL should act to streamline regulations. If elected, I will ask the MERL to institute a review of regulations. They should get feedback from business on this. Any that are unnecessary should be eliminated. Any that can be simplified will be.

MERL manages, through RECOM, the stewardship and appropriate exploitation of our natural resources. The profits from this are government revenues. I expect that this will increase during the next term under my administration. One area where both employment and revenues has slipped is coal mining. We had benefited from a long-term export contract. When it expired, no effective replacement occurred. Coal is a commodity. We will analyze our mines and put some of the more efficient ones back into production. If we can’t arrange another long-term deal, we will ship and sell the coal at market prices. Some months we will make money. Some months we might not. We will check the results and adjust our plans accordingly. Perhaps some months we will stockpile the production. Maybe OurTime shipyards can build us a more efficient ship in which to deliver the coal. Coal is heavy, to the further we ship it, the less we will earn. China is a big booming market, but it is too far away. We will be selling to the Americas and/or Europe.

Labour is also MERL’s concern. Recently, we have been relatively free of strikes. This has helped our economy. But we cannot take workers for granted. The unexpected inflation that has been impacting all of us sowed the seeds of discontent. This led 100,000 workers to protest, even if it was for an ill-conceived idea like the six-hour day. Something was wrong. The workers knew that. Cornelius Dank hijacked their discontent. That doesn’t mean something shouldn’t be done. I will ask MERL to facilitate negotiations between unions and employer groups. They could investigate implementing cost of living adjustment clauses. Another successful practices elsewhere should be studied and considered."

Once again I Major Braxton take to the podium to talk to you people of Eutopia. Many of you right now are probably saying " Whats wrong with this guy his made 3 speeches already can't he give us a brake can't he stop." No my friends I cannot stop with this tenaciousness I am using now in this campain. Will put to better use in the GA where I shall work for you the people to get the best deal for you all not matter what social status you are what colour race or age you are.

You have all ready been put through a peroid in the GA where the Assembly members did not turn up to vote or simply did not care.
I am not like that I put the wealfare of my country first if their is something that must be passed in the GA I would be one of the first to vote apon it.

So when you the people of Eutopia go to the polling boths remember to vote for the UMP for the GA because I guaranty that we as a party shall not let you down.

Outside of Uxbridge, in the Foss River National Park, the UMP presidential candidate, dressed in clothes appropriate for a hike and wearing a backpack, comes up a trail to point where it overlooks the river. A sound man with a directional microphone is hidden behind a convenient tree stump. The camera zooms in from across the river, as he sets down the backpack and the speech begins, which is televised and recorded for use in party politcal broadcasts.

"My name is Loic de Fourgéres. I am here before you to today running for President. I have spoken about how I plan to keep my administration responsive. I have covered all the other cabinet posts. Today I want to speak about what I expect from MESA.

The Ministry of the Environment and Social Affairs impacts your life outside of work, and even some there as well. It covers Welfare, Health, Sports, Environment, and National Parks. I would like to see less spending on welfare. Not because I am hard-hearted. But, because I would like to see a more vibrant economy that would make it less necessary. When it is necessary, I would rather see the money spent on training. A pilot program like that, which I suggested, is being tested now. MESA administers Omnicare and Medicure, the insurance and health services. They are doing a good job. I know because we did a thorough investigation early in this term and found not a hint of fraud or corruption that has plagued these services in other countries. What we need to check is whether we are appropriately adopting newer medical technologies into our health care system. I will ask the MESA in my administration to study this. We will ask for funding to support recommended enhancements.

MESA, for the last two terms, has not paid enough attention to sport. I would like to see a formula one race here. Or a top level international golf tournament. Internationalize our most prestigious marathon, the surfing championship. We could develop national teams to compete more internationally. And not just in association football. Could we become the seventh nation in the “Six Nations” biennial rugby competition. Could we host test cricket between the winter season in the West Indies and the summer season in England? We can’t do all of these at once, but we should do something.

I have enjoyed visiting the Foss River national park again, where I am today. I would encourage you to do the same. I don’t think any changes in this area are needed.

These above mentioned areas of MESA have been under-emphasized, due to the interest in and dedication of the long serving minister and former president Al’Aeshir to the environment. Too often, economic growth and the environment are viewed as something that needs to be traded, one for the other. I do not accept that. Just because I am pro-growth, doesn’t mean I am anti-environment. There are two types of pollution, that with a local impact, and that without a local impact. The actions of the United Provinces of Eutopia will not have a significant impact on global warming. Therefore, I would not unilaterally impose a CO2 tax, or anything similar, designed to have a global impact.

Local pollution imposes costs here. Polluters should no longer get a free pass to produce pollution with local impact. They will have to consider the costs of cleaning up the mess they are making. I am not talking about anything retroactive. That is against the consistution. I am talking about measurable costs, not theoretical calculations. This will be a step. I am sure the new MESA will build on this, to improve the quality of your life."

Back in a suit and tie, the UMP Presidential candidate and member of the their GA slate delivers an address to a UMP campaign rally in Neuwestbaden.

"My name is Loic de Fourgéres. I am here before you to today running for President. I have spoken about how I plan to keep my administration responsive. I have covered my expectations for all the ministries. Hopefully that has been enough to help you decide to vote for me as your next President. For those of you who are still undecided, I will speak briefly about the future. I am also on United Moderate Party General Assembly slate. I would like us to be well represented in the GA. It will make our goals, which I hope are your goals too, more achievable.

There have been some who have expressed lofty goals. We should raise the standard of living of our country to first world levels. We should have a space program. These are just examples. I certainly support the former. Neither of these is possible over night. Neither will be accomplished in one term. We can however lay the groundwork, to prepare for such goals, during the next term. To set us on the right path to the future.

The administration’s program I have set out in my earlier speeches is my current vision to get on the right path. What will be implement will be somewhat different, as we react to unforeseen events and adapt to developing trends. We will be better able to move forward if we are moving together. If the General Assembly and the administration can work together. I will try to work with whomever is elected, but it will be easier if there are more United Moderate Party GA’s.

Working with my party colleague, Jean Saint Daere, we crafted the only bill to get through the first half of the GA session. It carried out a campaign promise, to improve the pension system. You should expect a better retirement income as a result, if you take advantage of the program. There is a mechanism built in to make sure it is no worse.

I will work to get sound legislation drafted an introduced. To make your government more effective. To promote economic growth. To improve the quality of our lives. Help us do that. Vote for the United Moderate Party for General Assembly."

Truman arrives for a speech at the MDIS

Hi everyone, thanks for comming!
I would like to talk about the reaction speed of the defense of Eutopia. It was clear that we were way too slow in the crisis with the Hainan Star. Next Term we will need a whole other military. One based on the speed of reaction. Perhaps we can even join in UN missions... That would be great.
But we first need to deal with the embargoes. America and Europe have both weapon embargoes over Eutopia. This is no longer nessesary. We need to be able to defend ourselfs... we don't want a second ECB!

All thanks for listening!

Based on previous fund raising, the money the P4P saved by not running a Senate candidate against Williamson, and the combined campaign warchests of the former P4P and mainstream UMP, a blitz of television ads hit the airways, using extracts from the UMP candidates speeches, and background bio information on those who made few speeches. There was a wealth of usable footage about former President John O'Floinn, thanks to his TV show. Shots of MGA McGrath speaking in the General Assemby were used, as were shots of Deputy MDIS Truman at the Quadragon. Details were provided about the excellent service record of Major Braxton and the work to preserve our national heritage by Dagmar FitzHerbert.

The final two days before the election, Presidential Candidate Loic de Fourgéres made a whirlwind tour of Tabor, Eauze, Chateauvallon, Derry, St. Brendanstown, Wrexford, Spalding, Whitney, Huntington, Neuwestbaden, Hafnia, Eutopia City, Hannover, Gilford, and Douglas, before winding up at New Lancaster City right before the polls closed. The S-shaped route followed the soon the returned Inter-Provincial Highway System. The same short speech was delivered at each rally, emphasizing the promises of an active administration working to improve the standard of living, the quality of life, and to restore the respect for and strength of our defense forces.

A new UMP add, featuring O'Floinn, is released.

The members of CUE think we need to prove that we aren't propped up by socialists.

What if we do that by winning the election with any type of deal for the votes of socialists?

What if we do that by building a broad support base by simply having the best candidate?

What if we do that by actively supporting the EBA, which is Eutopia's largest anti-socialist/pro-capitalism organization?

What if you do that, by voting for the substance of the UMP, over the fluff of the CUE?

Major McGrath steps up on the podium, dressed in a perfectly shaped Class A uniform.
"Dear Eutopians, as you may already know, i'm Thomas J. McGrath, Major of the Eutopian Army and candidate for the United Moderate Party.

It would be much easier to me talking about the terrible state wich our Armed Forces are in. You already heard that many times. I will cut it short, too many governments filled their mouths with funds and modernment. Eutopian need a modern protection force. A moderate, balanced plan to improve our Forces is what we need. I don't think anybody wants our Armed Forces become a black hole for public funds.

The security of our nation is in danger, more than ever. The government agencies are doing great, the recent arrests shows that the job of Per candidate de Fourgéres is rewarded.
The candidate president for the UMP made the greatest efforts to hunt the terrorists, to isolate them from their supporters, to show the world that Eutopia can fight back when hit.

During the elections, you have the power to decide the fate of yourselves and your families. Choose wisely, choose a party that will change the way politics have been done in Eutopia. United Moderate Party. Thank you."

The UMP Presidential candidate, Loic de Fourgéres, takes the podium next, and shakes the previous speaker's hand.

"Thank-you Major McGrath."

...turning to the audience...

"He has done a good job of representing you in General Assembly this term. Vote for the UMP GA slate so he can have more United Moderate Party colleagues there to get our programs enacted.

A CUE politician suggested that because the ESA endorsed me, I was a socialist. This is simply not true. I have founded a business, Fourgéres Family Holdings Incorporated, which is employing directly hundreds of people in Western Eutopia, and indirectly providing jobs for many more in the renovation of hotels and apartments there. I am a member of the Eutopian Business Association. Is this how you tell if someone is a socialist?

We live in a democracy, and democracy means choice. This election, for President, you have have choice between Per Forbes and I. Per Forbes is relatively inexperienced, and so we don't know what kind of President he might make. He was not among the top two possible presidential candidates this term. Leaving aside our current president, who under our constitution is not able to succeed himself, there were a number of people with better records, such as some former Presidents. Public service is a mixed blessing. Having experienced it, some, like former President Al'Aeshir, choose not to run or serve.

Our Federal Government has three branches: the judicial (with the courts and the Commissioner of Justice), the legislative (with the General Assembly and the Senate), and the executive (with the President and Cabinet). All three must work reasonably well to provide you, the people, with decent governance. No one branch is more important than the others. The branches work better when they can work together.

The best possible and willing candidates for president this term were both in the United Moderate Party. One of them was General Assembly Speaker John O'Floinn. We conferred and he felt that given our talents and the nations needs, he could best serve the country in Term XI in the General Assembly, hopefully continuing as its speaker. I would like to believe you think so as well, so please vote for our GA slate.

Democracy is about choices, and on election day, politicians and newspaper editors are like any one else, they get to vote for their choices. If you make up your mind before you vote, you can keep it secret, or you can choose to tell others. It is so surprising that some politicians and newspaper editors have decided to let you know their choice beforehand? Given the choice, it is so surprising that I have received several endorsements? They are simply reacting to the same choice you have. It is not just one other party that has endorsed me, so don't read more in to one party's action than you should.

After the election, it is important that all branches of the government be able to work together. I have been able to work with people in other parties, and thus the other politicians who endorsed me believe that we will continue to be able to work together, for the good of our country. That doesn't mean I will pursue some other party's agenda. But it does mean that if a politician some other party comes up with a good idea, it will not be seriously considered, and perhaps 'borrowed'.

I hope to contstruct the best cabinet possible. This will undoubtedly mean looking outside my own party. However, as we are the United Moderate Patry, I would like to keep the cabinet balanced as well. Including independents does not tip the balance, but if I were to include someone from the left who could be an active and effective cabinet minister, I would like to balance that choice with someone from the right, if they could show their willingness to work with me by agreeing to a few simple ground rules. Of couse, a minister serves at the President's pleasure, so such appointments are not guaranteed for the full term. However, I have made it clear in my first campaign speech what is expected. If one is resonably active in administration of the ministry, they would probably do well. They would be free to say whatever you wanted in the townhall or on the campaign trail, but when acting or speaking as a cabinet minister, they would defer from advocating positions not held by the administration. That doesn't seem to hard to live with, but I would understand if someone couldn't, and would be obliged to look elsewhere.

We should be proud of our democracy and the best way to show that is to vote. If you want the best government for the next term, please vote for the United Moderate Party."

My candidacy has received
