Alright, please, correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't the AI supposed to take out loans to pay you for your demands in peace treaties. I have 2 perfect examples. Both as the Aztecs:

1) Attack and cpature all of Zapotecs. Ask for and receive their two provinces(save the capital) Now, even with the asking for vassalization, I still have like 20% left over. This translates to 500d I think(20x25=500 right?) Well, I got 56d. And I thought I would get more money in time, but nope. Nothing. That money could have been used to upgrade to level 1 forts, to improve my bailiffs. But I got hosed. What, they have no money?

2)Attacking the Mayans, take all their provinces, ask for and get the 3 provinces save the capital, make them vassals, and have maybe 15% left. Now I have 100% score for both of these examples. So, going by the 25d=1%, that means that I should get 375d. Even if it forces the AI to take a loan, 2 loans, all 5 loans. But nope, nothing. Scratch that, got 80d.

So, am I completely mistaken, but wasn't this a major gripe from the first game. In EU, you would ask for 500d, get 1d instead. But if I am mistaken, please, please tell me. Then I can stop asking for money, just annex the buggers instead.

When you demand money as a victor, you get the sum you demand if the vanquished party has that much to give. If they're short, they'll just empty out their whole treasury, and that can be very disappointing. I tend to only demand money from the larger nations that I know can meet a given demand.

I'm not sure if forcing the AI to take out loans would be prudent...it's too much to ask the Iroquois to pony up 500 ducats, really...and if they can't pay, they just can't pay. I'd like to see some sort of indemnity system worked out...i.e. payments over a long period of time, or at least deferred payments.

But I was under the impression that this was the case. That the Ai had to take out loans to pay you off. Even if it bankrupt them, it was thier fault for succumbing to your forces. Because, as I said, I now simply go for provinces. No money. Provinces, and if possible, vassalization.

Just wait for them

to offer peace and what $ they offer. If you are kicking butt, they offer all in their treasury. Then you can wait as you occupy all their provinces for them to keep offering more. They can't spend money on armies when you control their provinces so their money piles up.

You can get peace of 1000 ducats, a couple of provinces, plus vassalization if you play it smart!

This should not be fixed imho.

The human will just abuse it and claim that the game's too easy. Not forcing the AI to take out loans is in game balance interests. You can gripe all you want imho, but at least the AI doesn't have to cheat like in Civ III

yeah, but won't war exhaustion kill you tho? If you wait, oh say, 4 years. Then what about all those pesky rebels that pop up in your country?

BTW, how do they get money if they have no provinces to collect census taxes from? Invisble tax collectors that sneak past my armies and knock on the doors of the downtrodden, demanding they pay their taxes, "or else!" Hmm, strange. Ah well, thanks for the help. Guess now, if I take a country over, I will sit on it forever and a day.

Actually, why is it that some provinces are greyed out when I select them? Has happened when I play as Muscovy. What gives with this thing?
Thanks

Maybe this would be solved by increasing BB rating for the victorious state each time the loser is forced to take a loan during a peace deal, as the other states judge that too much money-taking is as worse as to grab land. This would force the player to think twice before asking too much.

Orrrrrrr......

Maybe make it so that it isn't so little for money. 25d=1% Problem is, if you take the entire country, and then get them to be vassals(as my example i gave above showed as the Aztecs), well I had 15% and 20% left for my war score. So what am I supposed to do with all that extra score? Waste it? Doesn't seem right, imho.

They still have income from merchants and if they have a COT, tarrifs. And, they do still get income from those occupied provinces, but not all of it. The occupier gets some too. In fact, I've found when my stability is restored, I can sit and occupy a nation and make a lot of money as I set my maintenance to 50% and just watch it make one better offer after another all the while taking in my share of their province taxes.

It depends though on what nation you play and what cultures you have under your control. This doesn't work so well if you have an empire, then war exhaustion may well negate this strategy.

It's worth adding that a long standing bug (it has been in EU since the beginning) has been fixed since the gold version was shipped. But I am not sure whether that fix is in the 1.01 patch or not.

This bug gave the ai a bit of extra cash that it did not deserve.

I agree to the notion that the computer or you have to loan money to pay war-indemnities. This after all how it happened historically. Often a country that won held on to important cities or fortresses until the whole sum was paid. If this was in the game people might not ask for land so much as provinces. Include this in the next patch please.

Oops, that came out wrong, should be "land as much as money".

The AI can get cash from al other AI's, though only at war, and two AI's at war with each other can't give each other money. ;)
