Okay, the game is sooo great, but sometimes the only thing you can do is stay looking the technologies evolving very slowly, and eventually fall asleep. Is there any way to make the things faster, like changing the game files or a mod?

I believe he meant he wants the game world to go by faster, not necessarily the techs themselves. If I'm correct, he alluded to the techs because that's ALL that happens during the lulls when you are building up and waiting for war. Thus he is bored and wants the game to go by quicker.

The only way to make the game world zip by faster is by increasing the game speed to max, which you've probably already done, or by upgrading/buying a new computer with a faster CPU specifically.

I like to unfog the map so I can watch how other wars progress, usually makes the 'waiting for war' phase a bit more interesting. I often look at the ministers of other countries (which isn't just informative but could give you the edge if it comes to war). Looking up your the stats of your currently available units is interesting too...
Another thing one can do is to look at the tech tree, tweaking your economy (efficency of trade routs, ressource flow etc.)
If nothing is left to do I usually take a sheet of paper and plan my gearing up for the next years or figure out plans how to possibly invade countries, analyze my current army / navy / airforce, look at stats....
man, there is always something to do :)
