i'm playing as germany.i already overran russia and i turned my attention to britian.i took england, scotland, northern ireland, gibraltar and all of there vp provinces in northeat africa.i checked the ledger and they only have 30v.p. s left.by my count i have more then 66% of there v.p. s but i cant put in a puppet regime.its really starting to piss me off because i had to sacrifice most of my navy in a massive battle off the coast of egypt so i could get troops into egypt.the british definetly have naval dominance now because all of my warships except 5 newly created cruisers were destroyed and i'd like to knock the british navy out of the war since my navy has been decimated.they are really starting to take down my supply convoys. does anyone know why i cant make them a puppet?

I thought it was 66% of their territories to puppet - not victory points. Could that be the problem?

66% of territory as well as most of the VP points. Mind you though, it still counts if they are held by your allies.

also, iirc your army has to be double the size of the british army to puppet them. bot that would be an issue here of couse....

Your problem is most likely that you do not have two times as many troops as they do which is the other requirement for puppeting. Destroy some of their army (don't know if navy or airforce counts ) and then you should be able to puppet them.

well size of army definetly isn't the problem.while there navy outnumbers me,my army is massive.i didnt lose many divisions on the eastern front and i destroyed most of the british army in failed assaults on the atlantic wall and in the invasion of england itself.there army is basically just a fairly small amount of miltia with some infantry.the japanese haven't helped at all.they have been pushed back to korea and the provinces they got from the bitter peace.so britian still has all of india and most of north africa,excluding the 4 v.p. provinces in egypt,so i probaly dont have 66% of there territories.india is undefended and they have very little in africa.if i had a navy i could probaly take all of india with a few tank divisions.my industry is doing great,but it is going to take some time to rebuild my navy and even then i'm not going to wait for battleships to be built(hopefully andvanced cruisers are good enough).so i guess its just a waiting game until i can invade india.or should taking all of north africa be enough?

Well you can always create a land brige to Africa by invading Turkey. I tend to do this a lot as then you don't need to bother with a fleet or convoys. After this, you can also invade Persia and create a land bridge to India.

If you don't have India, there is no way that you could puppet the UK. You need to develop a strategy to control and annex territory such as suggested by Bandit109. After taking the Baku region DoW Persia and march towards India. Then later take Turkey to set up a land bridge towards Egypt.

Don't fight the Royal Navy, just take the land and ports that they need. You should naval bomb the Royal Navy when you can, but don't get into any big fights with them.

It is possible as Germany to set up a land bridge from Berlin to Cape Town South Africa even when you have Italy as an ally. You have to plan for that from the start by a Bulgaria DoW rather than having it as an ally (Bulgaria will get a lot of Turkey if you don't). You need to convoy troops to Mogadishu (the southern most UK port in East Africa) and then work north towards Ethiopia. There is one 10 infra province that you need to take to link up the parts (para do that best). You can then move towards South Africa and the Belgian Congo which sets you up very well for the end game.

yea i'm just playing v1.06c.unfortunately i cant make a landbridge to egypt because the italians took everything france had in the middle east.i have military access through turkey(i actually obtained it when i just tried to pass though turkey so i could get the oil fields in iraq(i wanted to do it quickly to beat out the italians),but everything went to the stupid italians anyways ).
the bulgarians are already in the axis so they would probaly get that large part of turkey,greece is also in the axis so they could probaly get a chunk of it to.
currently i basically have air dominace so i've been able to suppress the royal navy enough to force them back to their ports(but every once and a while they come out and do a number on my convoys to egypt).since i have military access through turkey and italian holdings border turkey and my holdings in egypt.shouldn't there be a supply line there?i ask because the game says my army corps are in supply when i dont have a convoy going to egypt,but my armored units dont get enough oil unless i send a convoy.does less oil get through to your troops in this situation or something?
anyways,i'm going to invade persia and just attack india that way.i swear to God the italians better not rob me of any provinces in persia.

Attack only from provinces that you control when you have allies. If you attack from an ally's territory, the ally gets that territory.

Your troops on an ally's territory are supplied by that ally. But supply does not run thru an ally. The game is country based rather than alliance based, so another country in a string of provinces breaks up the land connection back to the capital even when that other country is an ally of your's.

Also if an area such as Egypt is listed below your capital, then you need to send supplies to that area via a convoy. The exception to that would be a puppet such as Vichy France where you control the resources, but Vichy France has to supply any units there.

You can always set up a naval convoy with anything in it that you want for your allies to use, but they decide what to do with it, not you (oil can be converted to rubber for industrial use by them rather than using it to fuel your Pz div).

well everything sort of ended up ok anyways.i DOW persia,and i took india up to delhi at which point it allowed me to install a puppet regime.unfortunaly when i was making my push to south africa i didnt pay attention to the infrastructure,so one of my crack 9 division armoured corps was dissolved because of lack of supply.but now that all of europe is in the axis i'm happy.

I don't see a New Order event in the UK events file. Just The Independence of India which I have never seen triggered in any of my games.

I don't see New Order in an earlier version of CORE (0.71) that I have on my PC either. So what is New Order supposed to be? You've never explained this, you've just asserted it. What is it?

I finally found New Order in CORE by looking for filenames rather than within country specific events. New Order in the East seems to be a mod which was incorporated into CORE a while ago (per CORE FAQ). It has nothing to do with standard HOI. There is a very big event file in CORE 0.71 (273 kb) called CORED_new_order_east.

i would say taking the US would be worth it.but time ran short and i wasnt able to put together a strong enough navy to cross the atlantic comfortably.besides that i had to divert alot of troops,to cut through india and bail japan out,they were getting beaten down by the nat. chinese. so the asian campaign made it intresting enough to continue.

Since when (and humour me, I've been out of the HOI game playing loop for 8-12 months) was it necessary to have a larger army than the victim to puppet the regime? Has it always been like that, or is that a new patch thing?
