Well, I just ask a question.

In real life, Liberal Party economic policy was laissez faire until World War 1.

However, their policy in game was interventionism.

Of course I can edit it, but I am just curious.

Because the Liberal Party was economically liberal in name only. Britain has a history of turgid corporate welfare. They were not free-market in the sense of pure economic competition, and I believe Britain still imposed tariffs and trade barriers from foreign nations throughout its history.

By 1870, Britain fully committed to free trade. I did not read through any state interventions in industries during Gladstone era, even from the Tories. There weren't any significant public works like in 1930s. That was the reason why British electricity supply system outside North East England was very disorganized.
