Just a question.
In the 1939 Blitz scenario, does the UK and all the Commonwealth nations have the same Air technology?

If not they should because when war broke out, Canada origionally wanted a "limited liability" war. They didnt want a war like the previous because the Conscription issue would tear the English speaking and the Quebeqios apart. So W.L.M. King concieved the "British Commonwealth Air training Plan" or "BCATP." This created schools all across Canada to teach pilots from every Commonwealth nation doctrines of air warfare. The UK and Commonwealth should get an extra "little" bonus when researching Air warfare doctrine.

And all the Commonwealth nations should have equal air tech as UK.
If they do have equal tech, forget that last sentence.

My experience from the game is that they dont have equal tech of anything.... :(

But the Brittish have the ability to share tech if they please. (will however not happen if its AI controlled).

Maybe this was a question for modifications?

Maybe there should be an event say between Sept 10 1939 and Jan 1940 for UK and the commonwealth countries that makes all their air techs equal, thereby creating the BCATP.

I concur.

I don't know exactly how far the tech sharing went, but the rest of the CW didn't develop Spitfires, Hurricanes, Halifaxes, Lancasters, Mossies, etc on their own.

I've never noticed the AI give any techs to anyone. If you are, then good, the UK wanted it's Commonwealth allies to help fight the war, not re-invent the wheel. There should be scripted events for sharing tech between the commonwealth.

Scripted events for Commonwealth tec sharing makes sense. IMO, Canada is very underpowered in the game. Australia is made to look like a powerhouse(at one point in my game the Aussies had 18 army divs) while Canada seems not field much of a force at all. The current settings could use some modifications.

I think a big problem is that the Commonwealth nations have the basic AI. Someone more talented than I should make a Commonwealth AI, that acts in concert with the UK ai.

ps LordStark, try playing as Canada. Give yerself some techs from the UK, and you can do some interesting things. Don't try Overlord on yer own though, the Germans outnumber you big time. :D

hi :)

I have written AI Scripts specifically for Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa.

Canada is now at the forefront of invading the European continent, along with the British and Americans. . .

*Gee, I wonder why*

Ive seen this approached a couple of ways now:

First one was to make ANZACs et al all part of the UK - (so they were all part of britain) - that didn't work as the brits then started with ICs around 500 - way too easy.

Feds and Bolt's mod both help tremendously but again there's no co-ordination of forces.. which intself may not be an issue but - what i do like about the UK is that you can struggle to fight on your own without the USA due to manpower shortages (you simply run out of manpower)..and its here, of course, that the commonwealth manpower should come in.

"ideally" you'd just "assume military control" - but until the bugs in that are resolved (and i also think that you SHOULD be allowed to put commonwealth troops onto any commonwealth or british transport, dont know about upgrading units etc ) its not really workable.

So Bolt and Fed offer the best routes atm - post 1.02 one hopes that an assumption of military control will allow the Brit player to run those forces as a single force.

In between i always dump my research into the commonwealth countries anyway - though be warned that results can be unpredictable ,South Africa often decide that all they want, all they reall really want, is one big ship and nothing else - even if it wont finish until 2003.

It was a very nice ship mind you...rather, it will be ;-) (j/k)

Baron Jukaga: Hi :)

All of the AI files I have done, have been written specifically for my modded 1939 scenario: "Total War".

They were written specifically to overcome many of the deficiencies that were found within the original game's 1939 scenario.

For the best results, I would download version 2.0 of Total War which I will be releasing this Friday. Even though there are still issues with the UK and Americans, you should still be able to enjoy the scenario with all of the modifications I have made in it.

I just sent Bismarck several screenshots of my playtest sessions. They should be posted on his website tomorrow.

Have fun!
