In the above linked pic (taken from a youtube tutorial) I seem to be missing some parts of the UI, the missing parts are circled in red. This has only come to my attention because I was unable to easily discover how to manage unit composition.

Along the upper left side; Apparently a unit editor UI, hidden behind unit composition panel.
On the map, attached unit lines
Upper right hand side; not sure what it is, but it lists things that might be important.
Lower right hand side; quick tools menu of some sort.

I would show you what mine looks like, but HOI doesn't like to give screen shot of itself.

I am running Steam HOI 1.4 on Win 8.1 in 1600x900 resolution.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have the base game HOI3 without expansions, correct?

Iirc, those other elements of the UI were added with various expansions. I don't recall which added which bit but the expansions are (in order):
Semper Fi
For the Motherland
Their Finest Hour.

Hmm.. So is there a tutorial to learn how to transfer brigaeds between divisions and divisions between corps? As it stand (yes I have vanilla HOI 3) I cannot do this.

This is Paradox, we care about castration and annexing the entire world, not business models.

But seriously, there are plenty of tutorials which will show you how, though I'm not aware of any specifically set up for this purpose. Unit transfers I know are a bit of a pain in the mikta but you can do it by selecting the division your brigades are in and then clicking Organise, which is a button that looks like two arrows, one sitting atop the other, pointing in opposite directions. This will provide a screen where you select the units you want to move and they will then be placed in a division of their own. Move this newly created division into the province in which you have the division you wish to move them into. Drag the cursor over them and, making sure you have only the two relevant divisions selected, click on the Merge button that looks like two arrows pointing directly at each other tip to tip.

Divisional transfer between corps is easier -- simply select the division you want to transfer, and beneath where it says 'No Objectives' you'll see a red or green arrow besides three rectangles. If it's a red arrow: click it and your division will be removed from the unit hierarchy, the arrow will then turn green, click this again and from the list on the left select which corps you wish to place in command of the division, et voilà. If the arrow is initially green instead: click it and simply select the corps you wish to place in command of the division. Multiple divisions can be selected for extraction from the unit hierarchy, by dragging a box over the desired units and clicking the red arrow on the top left of the selection box, however they must be selected individually for reinsertion.
