Hello!

I would like to have the battlemech storage grouping improved. Please show whole mechs and parts in the same spot, instead of having them separate, such as the suggestion below:
BT_Mech_Storage.png

The storage gets rather messy as the game progresses...

That would make sense. Though I also wouldn't mind seeing a revamp of how parts work, so you can combine parts from multiple variants to make 1 whole.

There is a mod that does this (Adjusted Mech Assembly Mod) , looks at the base prefab and then looks at how many of each variant parts you have. If I recall correctly, you have a choice in the mod settings to have it automatically build and pick which variant randomly (based on a % of which models you have parts for) or for it to do it based on the one with the most parts.

In your sample pic, you would be due a new Shadow Hawk - depending on the option chosen it would either automatically be a 2H or have a 66% chance of a 2H.

Now, I must unfortunately not agree with you, Justin, or Mr. Case, whatever you prefer. I would hate to get a SHD-2H- Chassis, because that would reduce my chances of getting the superior 2D (with 2 additional energy mount points and 1 additional small weapon mount).

What you want sounds perfectly a change that is better realised as a a mod. I would hope mod support was better...

Nothing unfortunate :)

I would also prefer the SHD-2D over the SHD-2H. Maybe the best of both worlds? Instead of auto-build, add a menu option under Yang for Salvage. Then choose 'build now' then if you have 3/3 in a particular model, you get that model. Otherwise you can combine parts and take your chances on what you get.

Or just select the parts you want to combine and (sort of in an alchemical way) find out what you get... Got a couple of crab parts, a few locust bits, and an Urbie 'arm'? BSC here we come! :)

Heh, while that might be fun, I doubt the game engine can just embed the arm mesh from one mech into the torso mech of another. Thus what you want is incredibly large workload on the developers, for just a nice feature. Not going to happen, I think.

Having to issue a build order for Mr. Virtanen to build a 'mech from spare parts and that taking time would be something I would consider reasonable. You are, after all, dealing with three to eight pieces of shot-up junk with a few ammo explosions thrown in to boot. Just imagine if it would take a 15-30 days to make a chassis out of those loot pieces. I think it should be necessary even if you have all the pieces from the same mech versionj.

That would make the game way harder, though.

Oh, it can. The obvious easiests are for example put a SHD-2H model part onto a SHD-2D since those are the same model packages, but it's also possible to hack a part onto another model, say a Stalker arm onto King Crab. It's not always pretty though, and isn't an intended feature, but it does technically work.

There is a mod out there for this already (I think Tetsehura Industries? Something like that).

The Cataphract is my favorite such “assembled” BattleMech:

While the Unseen are not yet in BATTLETECH, at least the Marauder’s Right Arm has been making an appearance for quite some time now, : )

That is a complete model, and not frankenmech for the purposes of mech parts. But yes, it is technically a factory produced frankenmech.
