Is there any practical way (i.e., without screwing up economic development with a really long war or overly large military buildup) to achieve roughly historical results in the inital (historical) Mexican war? Mexico by then has a fairly large military - I managed a decent (49% as I recall) war score, but it netted me only Texas, New Mexico, and one province in California. Looks like I'll need to fight them again to get Arizona, Utah, Nevada, and most of California.
Also, funny, probably well known but new to me "strategy," or at least it could be a strategy but I didn't plan it (honestly I probably wouldn't do it on purpose as it seems to be a bit exploitive). I traded a couple of my Canadian claims to Texas for claims in Colorado (which in turn had been taken from Mexico). When Texas was annexed by Mexico, Mexico got the claims, which then did not revert to England when I settled on the 49th parallel. So now England can't form British Columbia without going to war against Mexico.
