Since 1.4 introduced an event that makes Funj appear in previously unowned provinces, how about doing the same for Banten and Mataram on Java? The nations are already in the game but you *never* see them unless you start after 1552. Same for Sulu, which could appear by event in 1450.

Second, can anything be done about the likelihood of Spanish Siberia? I can't imagine that anyone finds it very plausible or immersive to see the Spanish own Asia from the Sea of Okhotsk to Lake Baikal, yet this seems to happen in most games. I'm not really sure how to solve this, but I think you could either help the Russians to make it more likely that they reach the Pacific by the historical date (Okhotsk, 1649), or somehow make it more difficult for the Spanish and Portuguese to colonize there early, maybe with trade winds or additional wastelands and PTI.

For clarity, below is a typical example of my second point. It's 1701 here.

I don't usually mind when countries own land they didn't historically but Spanish Siberia rubs me the wrong way for some reason... And it always happen in my games, along with Spanish Australia, New Zealand and Polynesia.

A way to stop them would be to give the coastal provinces a large settler chance/growth malus so it discourages the AI to send colonists there.

(I remember Japan getting into Siberia one game and using it to stage a war against Ming).
How did that happen? Can't have been AI Japan colozing it, could it?
The amount of Iberian Siberias I've seen is ridiculous. It needs to be fixed somehow.
Yeah my thoughts exactly. And it has been like this for so long, unchanged since EU3.
Trade winds in Pacific could be the solution.
I'm not sure. It seems to me that they often do Cape->Indian Ocean islands->Taiwan/Philippines/Hoikaddo. With bases so nearby you would need a very strong trade wind to keep them out.

Bump for the devs who read in the mornings :p

Also, no opinions about my first suggestion?
I'd be all for more nation spawning. With some limitations (no spawning without reason in the middle of the player's lands, etc), I'm sure it could add something to the game overall :) I don't have precise ideas about which nation to spawn, though.

When playing Russia I always take expansion as first idea and annex Perm ASAP so that with the two colonists I can reach Okhotsk before Spain/Portugal.

For some reason, I don't understand, Spain/Portugal always discover Siberia pretty early and colonize it while ignoring the Americas.

I don't think I've ever seen Spain own Siberia. It is owned by Russia in 4/5 games I play and occasionally, one of the Asian countries will take it (I remember Japan getting into Siberia one game and using it to stage a war against Ming).
How did that happen? Can't have been AI Japan colozing it, could it?
Actually, it was AI Japan. I was playing Ryukyu (one of my failed attempts at the 3 mountains) and I saw Japan in the coastal Siberian provinces attacking Manchuria and later Ming. I can't be certain if Japan colonized these provinces, or if someone else did and Japan conquered them, because I was not paying close attention to this part of the map since my empire was in the south Pacific (spanning the Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, and South America...all hail the king of Ryukyu!).

I'm actually OK if Muscovy/Russia fails to keep Perm in any of the games. I've seen Perm going on rampage over the Hordes twice (and I seriously felt threatened by PERM in the early-mid game as Candar). It's a nice variation, though I wish Perm was given a chance at exploration: they either don't survive to make use of the idea anyways, or they survive and need the idea. But yeah, it feels a bit silly to have not only Iberian, but French or British Siberia - I'd rather see Japan or Manchu do it instead. Maybe it's hard to program the Western Europeans to lower their priority on a specific region though.

+1 for the more nation spawning events, extending it to Sulu and Javanese states. But LESS of it for Qing or Mughals. It's weird to see Mughals or Qing spawning from rebels when they're supposed to be... I don't know. Formable nations?

Colonial revolt states still seem to come around 1750, I got the USA core event though I don't exactly remember what year it happened in my game as Quebec. Maybe this could be extended a bit and create new cores: replacing any existing dormant Aragon cores to Catalunya, or adding Slovak in Hungarian/Austrian territory, replacing all Lombard cultured cores to Italy if Italy doesn't exist and the provinces are owned by non-Italian state, Hindustan cores if Hindustan doesn't exist and a certain number of provinces in Indian region are owned by nations with non-Indian culture, etc...

Regarding the AI Japan in Siberia: if that province was Wusuli, then it's conquered, not colonized. If it was Deren or anything north of it, then it is indeed colonized.
