Why is von Falkenhausen listed as a leader of Nationalist China? (I'm playing 1.05), and why is Herbert Morrsion the UK HoG for the 1945 'elect left' option? (I'm sure it was Atlee in previous versions - someone appears to have changed it.)
Both of these are, needless to say, grossly ahistorical.
I am not sure you are correct.
There was a German named von Falkenhausen that was military advisor to Chaing Kai-Shek somewhere around 1930-38. I do not have exact dates. This German person did move around a lot.
I don't know for sure if he was officially a "field" general during this period, but clearly he was there in a substantial military function.
Do you know for sure this isn't the same von Falkenhausen? On what basis do you say this is grossly ahistorical (you sound pretty sure)?
Just wondering. Personally I would say the photo in the game looks like General von Falkenhausen photos that can be found on the net.
I just tried a cross check. Checked a list for the Pour le Mérite (
http://www.pourlemerite.org/medals/oakleaves.html) and found a Falkenhausen that got this on the 15th of April 1916. That would fit into the guy in China as he got the Pour le Mérite for services done for the Turkish army during WW1.
In one source he was called Alexander, but in most records I have seen it is Ludwig (von Falkenhausen).
When I do a quick search, while I write this today, I find this page
http://www.feldgrau.com/china.html
Do a text search there on Falkenhausen please. Quite informative I think, even if it IS disturbing with the different sure names. I can't explain that.
I guess you are right about the Herbert Morrison issue.
