I'm assuming that *some* players out there have played Spain and right off the bat annexed Portugal. Two questions for those who did.

1.) Does the Treaty of Torsedellias still occur? And if so, are the normally Portugese shields replaced by your own, not present at all, or still there as Portugese?

2.) Does having two Shipyards mean you get 2 extra colonists a year, or do you still only get 1 extra?

ive never annexed portugal but i know that if you have 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,001 shipyards you get 0000000000000001 settlers :D (for those who aren't insane it meens that you can only get one colinist from shipyards)

1- i beleive it does, but i dont know how it would work?

the Treaty of Torsedellias occurs?

What do you mean by shields...CB shields? Portugal's CB shields on Spanish porvinces dissapear. And Spain gets all of Portugal's TP and colonies.

Well you could avoid the ToT by annexing France , and England quickly. This should help avoid it , but not gaurenteed

Hmm, I'm sure I've read on the Forums that Tordessilas doesn't occur if you annex Portugal at the get-go-and that this messes up the Edict of Tolerance later (ie. it never happens)

I assume before ToT is made active-I've never actually done it myself to find out, but a couple of other people certainly had.

I'm sure you can guess the reason they were posting.:D :D (hint-BiB's homeland etc.)

Here is my experiance.

I played a game as France , and very early on I took out Spain (around 1498). But as I took them over (they had a colony in the Americas) the ToT kicked in. The ToT starts when a Catholic European country other that Spain & Portugal establishes a colony in the New World. Therefore I still had the Dutch National Revolt.

That's logical, but it's not actually correct-latest IGC, the ToT's always triggered in 1492, so the only probable culprit is the Sunni Mughal Empire, which has Colonial Dynamism in this scenario.

Ok..

I haven't d/l yet because 9 times out of 10 I lose connection when I try to d/l something (damn dial-up connection in the middle of nowhere). So today here at work (DSL connection 700kbps) I d/l to disk. I will install tonight.

Plus I am having a good ol' time with playing the GC.

I realize the differences between the two. It's just that I am having enough fun with the GC. Since the game rules are the same why change? I am no history buff so I don't have the burning desire to make sure that I play a game where Brittany has to be there. I think it's a great game , and am happy with it the way it is.

But I will still play the IGC soon enough. I take it though once you install the IGC there is no turning back short of an uninstall?

Got two EUs on my hard disc-but both have the IGC, just different incarnations!:D

Original's still got IGC 2.2-playing around with 2.3 on the backup copy I made.

Good Lord, man! How do you get so many shipyards?

Ah, I understand. You're playing the Expert Grand Campaign, where each province represents approximately 1 acre.

I've heard of this; apparently peace negotiations can be quite amusing. "Having conquered most of your colony, we hereby demand that you surrender this half of MacGregor's farm, the area between these two trees, and the city of Wirtemburg from Maple Street through Oak Street, between 4th and 7th Avenue."

;)

Thanks for all the replies!
