Five countries in alliance, one country (not alliance leader) declares war against France all the alliance countries joins in.

But when I look in the diplomatic window I find that the alliance has been seperated ,I am alone (alliance leader) in war with France and the other four members is toghether at war with france. Why?

If two or more countries in an alliance attack a province who will control the province after the end of the siege.

I had this situation that four countries participated in the siege.

Sweden (alliance leader)
Wurttenberg (the country starting the war)
Brandenburg
Argonien

Wurttenberg was first in the province and had most troops in the siege, but
Brandebburg got the province. Why?

As far as i know: the country who declares the war or the country who is attacked is made temporary alliance leader.
And the one with best leader gets the city- he is in command of the siege.

Hjarg: Actually I think you are wrong on one part, the one with the highest RANKING leader get's the province, which unfortunately is not the same as the best leader, as you can see in some cases.

That is completely right, and as you all know very historicly accurate, at least in some cases...

this 'split alliance' problem can occur when you make a seperate peace with one of your opponents.

An example:

You, Spain and Naples have and alliance. Spain starts a war with France and her ally Poland.
The war is You, Spain and Naples against France and Poland.

You are not interested in waging war on Poland and offer a seperate peace.

Your allies are still fighting Poland and the computers only way to handle this, is to split the war.
You are now in a difficult situation. You will not be included in any negotiatons of the alliance war and cannot cross your allies provinces any more.
If you need to make peace, make peace with the alliance leader.

Yes, you is right I did check the that my alliance had yesterday and this is the way
that the game handle separate peaces.

You can use this to your advantage if you don't want to be included in a peace with the other alliancemembers, the AI-countries sometimes negotiates very bad peaces.
