So, I was just watching the new stream, and I decided to pause a lot to try and see descriptions of all the Ascension Perks that Martin moused past.

One in particular stood out: Defender of the Galaxy. You can see this at about 10:11 here.

Now, this perk was about fighting Crises; it gave +20 Opinion to everyone, and +50% damage each against AI Rebels, the Prethoryn Scourge, the Unbidden, the Vehement, and the Aberrant. (of course, numbers are not final! ;))

I've been a bit out of the loop, but I think those last two must be new endgame crises that are being introduced?

Unbidden, Vehement, and Aberrant are all the same Crisis. Unbidden come first, then Vehement, then Aberrant. They are all different factions of that species fighting.

The Vehement and the Aberrant are part of the Unbidden crisis. They represent two additional factions of extra-dimensional beings that follow the Unbidden if you let the crisis reach certain points. The extra Unbidden factions also fight everyone, including each other.

They're variants of the Unbidden that appear and attack one another if you take too long to deal with the situation.

Personally I think it would be nice if that perk also gave a damage bonus against the currently strongest empire once they passed a certain threshold - whether that be strength or percentage of the galaxy controlled.

After all, for most empires, what's the difference between a crisis and absolute hegemony by a galactic power that'll snuff out their independent way of life?
