So to go along with the adjustable slider on how common habitable planets are, I'd also like a slider for how common primitive species are in the Galaxy. I don't mean we need to set an exact number, but running from "vanishingly rare" (where they seem to be now) to "rare", "occasional", "common", "excessively common". Something along those lines. I like having a lot of primitives in my space or near my space in the early game, and I like it when a primitive species arrives on the galactic stage. I also enjoy infiltrating them, and the occasional "active observation" events.
It would also not be bad to be allowed to select the color of the star of your starting species in addition to the planetary type. I don't know if the star has any effect on resources, but maybe I prefer one background color over another. At the very least, this could be used for roleplaying purposes. A species with a white star as their primary might have traits that a species with a red star would not and vice-versa.
