I don't know if someone has already ask this question but I want to know it for roleplay reasons. If I create two custom empires with the same species (same name, portrait, traits and planet preference) anf force them to spawn in my game will they be considered to be be of the same species or will they consider each other as aliens (with all xenofobia included).

Want to know so that I can create an scenario where a huge empire collapsed leaving small empires all over the space of the same species. As I do not already own the game I can't playtest it myself. Thank you :)

I've heard that two species with the exact same portrait, traits, and order of those traits are considered the same race. It needs confirmation but you might as well give it a try and test it out yourself. Sorry I couldn't help you much.

I can't because I don't yet own the game (hopefully soon). That's why I ask here if someone has tried it.

If they have different Traits but the same Name and Portrait then they'll have separate Entries but still be the same Species as far as Xenophobia goes. I changed some of the Traits for my Human Empire and the Commonwealth of Man spawned and they don't hate me because of Xenophobia. They Hate me because I burned half their capital to the ground and seized a half dozen planets from them and their allies, but they don't hate me because of Xenophobia!

Even when I talk to them they're like "You may be Human but We don't Like You!"

When the pop of one empire merges into the other, they might be considered 1 species. Might be separate on the species list because they are separate political entities.

Well if that happens it should be okay. At least if they have political rights even if aliens are restricted from having them.

I think that for it to work right, you need the same everything bar homeworld?

The traits need to be in the same order, even.

(At least that's what the wiki said)
