Alright so as the title says I've got 2 queries completely disconnected from each other.

1. Since the CoC patch I saw Austria's military might got nerfed into the ground. Are they still the prime contender for a swift revoke (haven't done it in ages), given the possibility of PU with Bohemia and Hungary or is this the time to try someone? In this same vein I remember being able to form the UK which removed provinces from the HRE, I know this stopped working with the PLC and Russia but last I checked it still worked with the UK. Anyone know if it still works?

2. Inter religious marriages. I only started playing EU4 a few years ago so I am not sure if this was ever possible? I know it was a rare occurrence in this period but it might be fun to add this dynamic allowing the ruler to potentially choose a different religion than that of his own nation with potential diplomatic/internal pluses and minuses that come with it. So i guess I'm wondering if prior it was possible to say play as Russia but get a spouse from the Horde?

EDIT - oh wait I lied there is one more question since I already mentioned this in a few forums but, is there any way to get the Safavids on the throne of Persia without starting at a late date?

Thanks loads in advance!

Well, as many in the forum have reported, the HRE is bugged out right now. Nobody will ever return territory, and Austria has a much smaller army. I think inter-faith marriages would be mildly interesting, but I think there should be a huge relations hit with other members of the faith. And to have a Safavid Persia, form Persia as Ardabil. Sometimes Qara Qoyunlu is friendly and will ally day one.

Austria starting with a smaller army is not a bug, but intended. https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/austria-nerf.1055027/

Re: inter religious marriages, you can certainly form RM between any two non-Christian countries. So Muslim + Hindu, etc. I don't know if it's possible to have a consort generated that is a different religion than your ruler, though I just started a Nepal game, so I may find out.

As for Persia, yes, in addition to Ardabil, there are a couple "Great women in history" events. (Mentioned this in the other thread, but whatever.)

Wow thanks for the updates on the HRE and Ardabil. I had no idea that the HRE was bugged nor did I check Ardabil to see if they had a Safavid ruler on the throne. That is most certainly going to be my next campaign! :)

Re the inter religious marriages, yeah I meant for Christian nations as well as the Muslims/Hindu + others. Just thought it could be an additional little quirk like the different religions for your advisors and stuff, which I thought was pretty cool when I heard about it.

Having a consort of a different religion is possible, though it can give you bad events (as far as I remember, one of the events can convert provinces to the consort's faith).

That's true but it is usually only Christian denominations. I was wondering of lets say Christian and Shinto or Hindu or Muslim. Would be fun to get -1 dip reputation for having a non christian wife or something :p

Well, as I_am_Nemo already said, you can marry between Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists, Pagans and whoever else. Just start a game in India and try it out :p

But yeah, Christian + anything else is not possible unfortunately (except if there is some kind of special event I don't know about).
