In all seriousness, that chain looks pretty great. I'd stay away from the End, though. I'm expecting your stuff to turn into Unbidden and spawn them right on top of your empire after that period of time. Or the End going full Orz (from Star Control 2) against you and basically erasing your empire from existence.



I have to ask, these are pretty clearly teasers from the upcoming update. If you don't want any spoilers, why did you even read this thread? By definition, it's all spoilers.
I did not read it when I realized it.o_O How can i understand is it a spoiler or not without reading it lol.:confused:

Why does it say "do not do this"? I mean I only see benefits there.

I'd guess that the event isn't fully scripted or something at this moment so choosing it would cause a crash or something.

Sounds like the Shroud is a lighter, softer Warp, and depending on choices, you could contact several different beings/gods for different outcomes.

RE: The End of the Cycle. Worst it could do (outside of some sort of obnoxious meta-y gimmickry, but that's not Paradox's style) is give a total game over in month 601. No fleet/leviathan to battle, no event chain to slip out of, just a black splotch on the map filled with empty, silent cities where your empire used to be.

Anything else is just a challenge to be conquered.

That's what I'm thinking, "You have 50 years to conquer/exterminate all other spacefaring life in the galaxy. Go pass that, and you lose.

Oh, and expect an ending in the vein of Arcanum's Evil ending or Soul Nomad's Demon Path should you succeed.

Looking at the Domination Traditions. I love the bonuses except that there isn't anything to help with unity. I compare this to Harmony, Diplomacy and Prosperity which offer an option to get a 2 unity building that can be built on every planet. I see a metagame where people rush these traditions to maximize unity gain. Especially the Harmony and Prosperity ones because the buildings that produce the unity contribute to the gain of resources (food and energy respectively).

Domination gives you the option to expand, not directly by taking world or vicariously through your Federation partners, but by subjugation, building a space feudal system where most of your neighbors serve you, integrating only when the size and numbers of your vassals require it.

Since Unity cost for traditions is adversely affected by the size and unhappiness of your Empire, being able to expand your Naval Cap by vassals, gain more money from tributaries, and have high-skilled governors providing happiness bonuses to your sectors and planets will let you stay physically small for better Unity costs while still conquering the galaxy.

Replaying Pillars of Eternity, it hits me. There is another terrible possibility for the End of the Cycle. It's the of the cycle of death and rebirth. Wild guess, total shot in the dark, but...

Imagine it. Fifty years of those benefits... but all your children/spawn/cubs/larvae/seedlings are born... empty. Hollow. Even the synths you build don't flicker with the intellect your programmers insist still remains in the source code, now hardly more than the robots of old. And those hollowborn can hardly replace anyone. Fifty years, but your entire civ is under a neutering purge, and events involving the misery and existential terror the hollowborn plague brings with it gnaws at your populace all the while.

If that's not in, I might have to mod something like it in.
