Check the shroud dev diary (#60 i think). If you go down the psionics ascendancy you can get a ruler with the trait chosen one that includes immortality. You technically get immortal leaders if you go synth as well.
The authority is oligarchy, the name is due to the combo of civics and authority. Committee because it's a group of elites. purifiers because of the civic.
It's not that they don't want to purge the xenos. It's just the special committee set up for that purpose that hasn't reached an accord on how to do it yet.
All I'm picturing is an office meeting. "Yah, if you could come in on Saturday and purge some zenos that would be great."
And remember to put cover sheets on your TPS (termination progress of species) reports.

So if the Hive Mind civic Ascetic has the same icon as the regular civic Environmentalist, can we infer the latter has the meaning of reduced consumption rather than environment manipulation?
I thought so, but earlier in the thread people were saying it may instead be about terraforming.
Well, more habitability rather than terraforming, which makes some sense. But I do think lower consumer goods requirement makes more sense, to be honest. A society that minimizes its own environmental print is by definition environmentalist, and this is a much more direct representation than some +5% habitability in all worlds.
This new system looks pretty intriguing. Looking forward to the DD where we might see some explanations, but on first blush I like the idea of a little more customization between ethos/civics/authority and the corresponding generation of a government type based on those combinations.

And if Imperial = hereditary (which it may or may not), I think they mean Imperial in the space empire sort of sense rather than the terrestrial Roman sense.

That's a real shame. While I think it makes sense for egalitarian and authoritarian to be meaningless to a hive mind, all the other axis could work perfectly find. There's no reason that a single consciousness for a species couldn't crave companionship or fear it. No reason for it to be spiritual or shun that which it can't see. No reason for it to not seek peace or war more than other things.
