Are those government ethos that I see there? Seems like something to help complement the government choices.

Although Hobbits weren't xenophobes, they're sort of like 'if dwarves were hippies'.

I'm not sure we're keeping the same government choices. It think we might pick a gov. form and decide how it works from the civics. The names might just be the description, ala CK2, than game mechanics.

You might be right about that. Irenic Bueruaucracy doesn't exist as a government type and the icon is definetly new. Irenic Protectorate is the closest in name and type, but that's an advanced government. Expanded government types would be great too.

Been waiting since they started doing these diaries for the Gov't changes (and detailed ethics changes; not the previous ethics dev diaries)

The Hobbits were totally xenophobes. They had the whole attitude of outsiders being dirty, disreputable, and unimportant. (In most portrayals, dwarves are xenophobes too.)

No, it's just a different background for the Mammalian ship.

Certainly dwarves are fanatic xenophobes compared to the hobbits' regular old xenophobia.

Wasn't that just a tradition choice? I know there was something about philosopher kings. I didn't see the stream, but I saw mention about it in one of the threads here.

I'll take a look at the stream though.

Philosopher King is a civic, which is not a tradition, but thw whole other thing. But some goverment name conventions are kinda breaking the mold even if they rename some of them.

Also apparently there is a thing called authority, which is a part of goverment. Despotic goverment have imperial authority and so on.

Totally can't place it with current goverments.

I suspect "authority" is democracy/oligarchy/autocracy/monarchy, and that civics are ethics locked and replace government bonuses.

I would guess an additional bonus rather then replace

That would make sense as there would be more flexibility in the government, which would also help keep any one government type being overfavored for a particular ethos.

Also, I wonder if there will be more personalities? There really could be more variety for sure.

They may not have assigned a bonus to it yet. "final numbers are not final" and all that.
