Could still be that we can mix Hivemind with ethics. Albeit, I'll admit, the chance is not exactly increasing, I don't think Wiz would order his minCOWORKERS to throw out the same trick tease twice in a row.

Guess we'll have to differentiate Hiveminds by Civics exclusively, blargh.


As well, that much for 'no individuals' in a hivemind :p

Kinda wish the civics were visible on that screen, though.
Will all leaders just be called "Saliban" I wonder, all with the exact same immutable personality traits.

Perhaps everytime a scientist etc grabs a new trait, or increases skill level, they all do.

To be entirely honest, this has partially culled my enthusiasm towards Hive Minds, as they seem to be nothing more than mini-prethoryn. Still cool, but I wouldn't give up psychics and factions over that.

Granted it makes sense from a gameplay point, but I'd love to think that you have thousands of ships acting in complete uniformity as part of the hive mind... maybe they'll have special technologies related to the combat computer (akin to the precognitive interface)

Yes, I'm almost completely sure that hivemind "leaders" exist exactly because the game needs each race to have leaders. In theory, it might be possible to remove leader cap for them (or set it 10 000s) and spawn a new leader with no bonuses and appropriate "name" every time the hive-mind establishes/takes over a colony or builds a ship or recruits an army, but... I'm not sure how well this would actually work...

Well, one can headcanon that drones in space are simply out of touch with main Hive Mind, so "hive mind officers" are required.

Also true, imagine the headache from rewriting all anomaly events.

If the Hive Mind ethic costs 3 points, wouldn't it make sense to be a different colour from the cyan (1-point) and orange (2-point) ethics? Green maybe? I think designating it a new colour would be good for maximum clarity here.

Maybe individual pops should still display the cyan version for consistency with other ethics, but I think changing the colour works here too - from what we've seen so far, your entire population is supposed to have the Hive Mind ethic, so it's even more important to tell if a pop has left the hive. A change in colour *and* symbol would make that more obvious at a glance than just the symbol changing - and the colour difference would also signify that Hive Mind is *slightly* different to the other ethics.
