Makes senseWiz said on Reddit that it's the UK, it's just bugged to show relations with yourself as neutral at the moment.
I agree, its pretty weird, hopefully they just have it because of big undeveloped gdp that will become increasingly meaningless as nations industrialize.
I suppose they are recognized (as british puppet) and china isn't and that's why we see them so high.
From what I understand there is no such a thing as a "Great Power Slot" anymore. Countries with over X amount of score are GP and X depends on the global average (meaning it changes over the game). The number of GP then depends on how concentrated or spread out score is in a particular game, but it doesn't follow any sort of "slot" logic.
About what happens if a subject country is over the threshold is anyone's guess though. I wonder if that is the case with the EIC.
Not everyone has or checks twitter. And citing your sources is always a good habit to get into.Assumed that pretty much everyone here checks those themselves![]()
A subject can per definition not be a Great Power. The list will probably just ignore them and see if there is any independent country eligible for GP status.I know, but that still means there are slots, it's just now they're dynamic instead of fixed. Which is more problematic, since a concentration of power/prestige in one country and its puppets may kick out additional rivals.
I would like it to be this way but in such case I think that perhaps they would be out of the list, just like China for example? Not sure how it worked in vic2 though...A subject can per definition not be a Great Power. The list will probably just ignore them and see if there is any independent country eligible for GP status.

This is not V2 though. In Victoria 2 if a puppet nation became one of top 8 nations, it became a great power and was automatically granted full independence from its former overlord.
wasnt there a west india company? I thought we first had a west india company before we had a east india company. Though the west one gained independence much before the timeline of vic3Doubtful. If the East India Company were so great, why wasn't there a West India Company?

I read it in connection with your previous post, where you assume the same behavior in V3.Okay ? What's your point ?
I was answering someone who said (s)he didn't knew how it worked in Victoria 2.

Hm, doesn't sound right, some years have passed and only in 1838 Ottomans started making very unfavourable treaties with GB. I think this isn't exactly historical but tbh as Ottomans wouldn't mind bad relations with British. It is also a bit odd that British relations with the Ottomans are so poor. Perhaps because of the Greek War of Independence?
I said assumed. I did not say you knew. Please don't twist my words.
I merely presented a plausible hypothesis to try to explain the difference in the number of GP, I never pretended to know how the game will work.
