Have fun in SF. But whatever you do, don't go to Oakland. I think it has calmed down a little bit lately, but a couple years back the murder rate was something like 3 a week. Actually SF kinda sucks, stupid cops are smacking down the local clubs and they aren't allowed to sell alcohol past 2AM. If you go just north of the golden gate bridge there are some old WW2/cold war era ruins out there. Pretty scenic too. Under the Golden Gate on the SF side is an old fort from the civil war era. Fort Point.
Water is a bit cold, but you're Swedish... Pacifica can be reached by going south from SF on 280 and then taking highway 1. Keep going and you'll head into Pacifica. Keep going and you'll head into half moon bay. Pretty good seafood restaurants all along that 30 mile drag. Scenic beach land too. While in SF find some dive mexican taqueria and get a burritto. I haven't been able to find a decent one outside CA, the east coast doesn't seem to know how to make 'em. And get a horchata, it's a tasty cinammon rice flavored drink. It's really dense urban scape, there are literally tons of little places tucked away to explore. Heck the sons of Norway has a chapter house out in Halfmoon bay a couple miles off of 92 which is a replica of a lodge of some sorts.
So you better make the terrain there urban.
Have fun. I won't let my wife know when the conferance is, she'd probably want to smack you for the ammount of chores I didn't do because of EU3.
