Long time player, part time lurker. Had a trillion questions over the years (still do) but this is weird enough to make me take the plunge and post.
So had a map on the go for a couple of years. Got to max milestone, dropped the Eden Project, inevitable birth/death wave. Didn't cause any dramas so cracked on.
Over the course of time I demolished and rebuilt pretty much the whole map bit by bit, using the wave as a guide to pop growth. Again no dramas regarding services at all. The wave is now going from about 97k and topping at 143ish. Now obviously hearses are working like trojans but I'm not seeing it. The death icons are minimal and you'd never know 40k people were dying. Traffics at 91%. Bit more decorating and i'll call it finished. This was 2 weeks ago.
Not played since. Turn on this morning. Game year is 2305. Play for 10 mins, look up and notice a little cluster of skeletons. Then a few more (you see where this is going). Now it's not excessive - maybe 30-35 icons and nothings red but is constant and it is brand new. I cannot emphasise enough what a Utopia it was for 200+ years before this morning.
Now the logical part of my brain is telling me it's a mechanic that's kicked in now for some reason but what with the immaculate timing, the part of my brain that wants to wear a mask and buy some extra loo roll wonders if somebody's taking the piss.
So in short..... what gives?
