I'm surprised that so far I haven't seen anything for some of the large nations (population wise) out there. These include China, Bangladesh, Indonesia, the Philippines, etc. Those nations are quite powerful, you know.

Not necessarily international clout, just that by their sheer volume of population they are important. More people live in Bangladesh than in Japan or Russia. That's a lot of workers, even if they aren't as developed as some nations.

TWF Dev Diary #11: The End of the World
So for our last Dev Diary, we're going to (appropriately enough) talk about The End of the World - or at least the end of the game.
It is substantially unlikely that you will actually figure out a way to destroy the planet itself (and I don't recommend you try it; I'll probably kick you) in the sense that it will cease to exist, but there are plenty of ways to end the world as we know it. If you do manage to end the world as we know it, it will prematurely end the game. This is known in the biz as a "bad ending."
The most obvious way to end the world as we know it is via nuclear war. Any large-scale or strategic nuclear exchange will probably result in me citing the End of the World contingency and prematurely ending the game. You'll then probably have to deal with a lot of unhappy players who were having fun until you went and blew everything up.
1. That'll teach him to cut you off
There are plenty of other good ways to end the world as we know it, though, ranging from ultimate biological weapons to manmade geological upheavals to scientific superexperiments gone horribly wrong. Still, the one I really anticipate is nuclear weapons.
If the world descends into some sort of vast anarchy, or if the economy collapses apparently irrevocably, ushering in a Mad Max style hellscape (which I don't anticipate, but I suppose anything is possible), then I will announce the End of the World contingency. The same goes for a conventional war of such breathtaking scope that it leaves almost everyone dead, but I don't really see this happening either.
2. As far as you know, this is a giant black hole machine
I will end the game if I think you have generated conditions where it's essentially unplayable. I'll leave this statement deliberately vague.
If enough players quit or something, I will also end the game prematurely.
TWF does not have any random events that end human civilization as it exists today. So there will not be, for example, a random asteroid impact that wipes out human civilization, or a supervolcano that suddenly crops up and stops the fun. While TWF has natural disasters in it, these aren't worldending natural disasters.
3. All fun and games until it happens to us
If you manage not to destroy yourselves, TWF will randomly end some time in the middle of the 21st century. My expected runtime for the game is approximately one year, with every real-life week corresponding to an in-game year. I have not fixed the date for the end of the game yet, and you will not be told ahead of time what the end date of the game is. You will simply have to be surprised about it.
4. Just consult this simple diagram
Regardless of how the game ends, I will then write an epilogue analyzing how you all did. Pats on the back will be given, heads shaken, friendships begun and ended, etc.
This was the last Dev Diary. Public signups are officially going to start on Friday (the 16th) in a new thread and last for a week (until Friday the 23rd).
