Remember that playable faction must be more or less humanoid. Their heroes must use the same equipement that other heroes uses and their secret tech units also can't be totally different than those of other factions.
NPC factions is where a really weird aliens work as they don't need to be humanoid at all.

While i agree i would like to say that the reasons you give for the playable factions to be humanoid in design is one more reason for making a race that break that rule. Since all the playable factions so far has been humanoid, sound to me, as a good reason to see if there can be make a playable faction that isn't. People have been asked for truly alien things, so why not something truly alien. Think the voidbringers but playable :D

I've got what I wanted (Saurians), so I'm open to anything now :D But isn't it so that partially you can play as "alien things"? My Growth or Psi-fish stacks do feel quite alien, and you can make entire armies from them... I think with making humanoid "core" factions and a bit outlandish NPC factions Triumph struck a good balance between sci-fi tropes and the eerie, more creative things. I don't think they will break from their approach so far: the final new faction will be humanoid while NPC's will be where they will "go crazy" a bit. With Therians out of the way, who we can go as far as to call Tigrans equivalent, I think there is still room for either a faction of old or sth entirely different.

Hey Zee, fingers crossed for T4 Shakarn dragons, yes or no?

I think the four-legged ones (in front) will be T3 and the the hovering ones T4 (at the far back)

I know it is too early, but I would like to know how the Shakarn synergize with the different secret techs.

currently thinking they would work well with Voidtech. Teleporting lizard soldier heroes and all that.

I am more interested in if relations with npc factions will be somehow different.
Especially interaction with Paragon would be a bit weird if it was the same as all the star union factions.

That one out front is definitely their tier 3 melee. Looks like their other tier 3 is behind the central barricade. The one with the 6 protrusions on its back making a wing like shape.

I think you are also right that the ovoid thing is their tier 4. I bet its a flier considering how high up it is.

Far in the back is a floating drone thing. That is probably their scout.

We are missing their other tier 2 unit and their flyer.

There might be a hint at the other tier 2 on both the key art and trailer: The lizard with a sort of mini-gun that has this big pauldrons. Maybe it's similar to Dvar Trenchers in that it can fortify in place and provide covering fire...

Regarding the big ship as tier 4, it might be a regular unit or a summoned unit, but either way this would also explain it's presence on that other screenshot made on strategic map. Maybe it's similar to Drone Carrier that it can summon reinforcements or provide area wide buffs like Kir'ko Harbringer.

And regarding synergies with Secret Techs, I think Triumph has it covered. I think they're way past the phase in which they decided upon the factions which will be in the game. Up to the last dlc, so it was figured out way back.

My guess.
In the video from the 1:14 we have 5 warriors: Tier 2, Tier 2, Hero, Tier 1 and Tier 3.
There are 3 ships in the sky. May be they are Tier 4 unit. They are not a building because in the video from the 1:27 this unit is on the tactical battlefield. From this ship comes a purple ray to the foot soldiers.
I guess draconian with wings is Tier 3 unit.

Welp, I was wrong.
Dune rant incoming:
Looking forward to the Leonine Antler Bearer thought. Therians seem awesome and at least loosely inspired by Dune's Futars. I wonder if it is an homage of sorts.

Also, the new weapon class reminds me of the Sonic Cannons they use in the Sting-toting Dune film, or the weapons wielded by the Fremen in the now defunct Emperor for Dune games.
I'm sure there are plans within plans for the feature of planetfall.
I welcome them all
