Don't expect too much. It will be similar to cosmic events from aow3, I guess.

I actually liked the cosmic events in AoW3... would be nice if they came back. Just out of interest what did you have in mind? (and for all we know your guess is as good as zaskows and mine)
For example some army satelitte waking up and starting to make some crazy demands like kill 10 units of faction You have best relations with, build my shrines in 3 of Your cities etc. Whoever finishes quest first will be able to chose a worldwide buff. An terraforming AI reactivating and decides to turn all planet into water/flaten all mountains/destroy all cities bigger than 5 population; players will be able to make quests to help/stop it and based on how many are done different outcomes happen. Some world quest that forces players to make large production/reserch comittments; You can help in it obviously sacrifacing Your goals, or skip it hoping to get ahead of opponents, but if quest fails You will get heavy penalties. Maybe something different but with a lot of interactions, something that will change the world and make it more alive.
I would be REALLY disappoined if it ended with "every 10 turns get some random buff", first of all because it is shown as one of core features of an expansion, and mainly because I see how much work and love was put in anomalous sites.

That text hasn't been changed since release of the base game, so I'd take it with a grain of salt and wait till the full announcement.
If Shakarns are going to be antropomorphic race I wish they wwon't be cat people again but something new. But then cats are popular and cat's faces are quite human-like so cat-people looks better than for example dog-people.
If I have to guess just by those names then Shakarn sounds like some agressive space barbarians and Therians like some advanced, proud race. Like sc-fi version of orcs and high elves/archons.

Actually the Therians are the whatever-they-are in which i am most interested. Surely the name came from Therianthropy, shape-changing into animals, but i hope it will be a whole race of shapeshifters. That is something that was discussed for the game a while ago and that i would really like to see. Shapeshifters infiltrators races are one of my favorites species

My prediction is that there was a sub/split faction of Vanguard, and they are here to unify everyone for "the greater good."

I don't even have the base game, i will buy it for my birthday this year
So... the Tau? Militaristic, high tech, drones and tanks. Add just the Greater Good and the Vanguard are the Tau
But my prediction is just based on the name and some memories. Therian surely in the name they give them on the archives, it may or may not have any relationship with the final race. I hope they are shapeshifter still. I don't know if it was this thread, or another, but in one thread some people discussed the shapeshifters race and a aquatic one. How they could be implemented, why yes, why not, that kind of things. Maybe they are shapeshifters but only a minor race, like the Paragon or the Spacers. Lets wait some more days and see then

Some one hacked anonymous apparently
I remember the troll king event one. I liked it alot, really puts me into the test as I am forced to work with whatever I have at hand to overcome 8 trolls at every first battle.
If my six militia can bring down at least 1 troll before they get wiped, its a crushing success for them, sometimes i even managed to bring down 3 xD
It was a event that made me appreciate something that I normally ignore because they're always alone and disorganized so they was nothing special but when they are formed into a proper group, they become quite formidable and if you're below a certain level of firepower you are going down. The best you can do is try to bring as many as them as you can into hell with you XD
Most of the times the troll raids was triggered at so-so times but then that happened just one time where troll raid happened while I was in a rather annoying war against a rogue. Many trolls came forth from high mountains and from under the lowiest of bridges to raid many stacks that I had traveling to to the frontlines to fight the rogue. Most of my stacks got wiped enroute but not without taking 75% of the trolls with them. Stacks that survived had at least one flame tank with them or had good luck crits or just plain outfought the trolls or was very high tier stack or was marching with other stacks together or stacks that was composed of six flame tanks. I've had at least one stack that was composed of six musketmen managed to win against that but I had to use alot of spells for that win.
More importantly, I still managed to do well enough to keep rogue off me as I finished off the trolls and then went back to killing the rogue and his age of deception: Spoiler warning: The rogue lost to me.
