Loading a vanilla savegame shows an obvious default value of 0.1000 for infrastructure (= repair) and 0.2000 for reinforcements. Building infra does seem to miss some entries although there is an "Infra_provs = { } " visible. At least you could specify provs for infra builds.

I personally think that the devs were aware of the problems with the AI builds. It is already much better then before. In previous patches the convoy raiding did not work. The UK broke down because it build nothing but TP and convois. Germany did not build any tanks and MP shortage was an issue from the start not from 1943 on. Japan always won in China and other issues. (well now JAP always loses hehe)

As it has been said before by many others: It seems that with each patch that fixed smth, other things that were fine before got screwed up. And now in 1.07 it was the overall AI builds turn. My guess is that the Devs simply did not have enough time and manpower to fix it so the solution was to let the AI build ENG brigade and nothing else and to stop researching everything it did not produce (like Arty). That way a half way decent game was possible because things were simple enough for the AI to handle. But we dont want half decent - we want awesome :D The only complain I have is that it was not admitted by the devs when 1.06 /1.07 was released. Where is the problem in saying: People we fixed that and that but did not manage to do this and this. Since it is softcode you can do it - and we might use it later for 1.08 - I would have been ok with that - it is not a huge full price game so I am willing to put in some work to make it better.

My event chains (40+ events) took 3-4 days (and nights) to work ok. Weserübung sits for about the same time to fix AI builds now. We both had no clue about anything before we started - all trial and error. I get that the Devs are few and time is short but it is not THAT much work to make it a little better.

And about the INFRA repair. I doubt very much that the AI gets more free repair then the human. As I said all you need is TAC IV and mass destruction researched to take about 30+ IC from the UK in 3 months. And then you can wait for ages until it comes up again. This is hurting the UK so bad that it will fall far behind in research and production.

Ok this is now the third time I am attempting to post here, the first for some reason the boards never put it through, the second I hit the wrong key and it sent me to another website just when I was about finished. Ok this one better work because it's quite frustrating. I've made a lot of tweaks to the AI as well. There is no excuse none for the devs of Arsenal of Democracy to leave the game in the state its in with a total brain dead AI that its taking its customers to fix it up. I would be quite embarrassed myself if I was part of the team that made it.

Arowaner you keep posting about your mods, why not upload them? There is nothing from you in the modifications boards that I could see. I really want to see your winter war events. Share please!!!

Anyhow I have tweaked the USSR and Germany to a fine build and the war isn't lopsided anymore. The USSR has about 250 INF/60 MOT/6 LARM/30 ARM/15 INT/10 Fight/15 CAS/10 TAC in June of 1941 when the Germans invade and Germany had kept them at bay till I stopped my game at the end of 1941. Actually they traded territories, and it is in no means an historical Barbarossa but at least the Soviets weren't steamrolled.

Question regarding AI files.

Most countries have a number of AI files for different years of the war.
Are those files automatically loaded up at the start of that year (therefore changing build schemes, etc) as I assume?

However the wiki suggests that if it says "no" to switch at the start of the AI file that it will NOT look to see if there is a new AI file for each new year.
If that is the case why at the start of the AI files where it says switch do they all seem to say no? I assume the wiki is incorrect but :wacko:...

Clarification please as I am stilling learning with AI files and scenario files by practicing on the UK Dominions :)

There are events only for AI that will activate these switches. You can find them in events folder (ai_ger, ai_sov,...)
If switch is set to ''yes'', AI will automatically try to switch to a more appropriate AI file every year.

So that means if you play the 36 campaign a file like usa_1941 might become relevant for the US even if there is no explicit switch order? (I've been asking Rogues question weeks ago in an older thread and the answer was no)

I might be wrong (probably am) but this is how it is explained in ai_file_doc:

switch = [yes/no] # Default is "yes". If turned off, the AI will not automatically try to switch to a more appropriate AI file every year.

The AI commands are a mysterious no man's land that I don't think the Paradox team let alone the Arsenal of Democracy team fully understand. We are just experimenting here.

Can you guys mode the files so Ireland, N.Ireland,Portugal,England and Scotland to build 1 coastal battery on provinces that dont have them? If those countries is at war.

Coastal battery! That would be an awesome addition to AoD! Although the only example that comes to mind of their usage was against the German Heavy Cruiser Blücher during the invasion of Norway.

I noticed one think when I was modifying the AI files. This happened with SMEP. I increased the upgrade value in country_1936.ai files for the majors and started a game as Germany. To my surprise there was not enough rares in the world to trade for. Only UK had some and Netherlands every now and then. I copied the old backup files without upgrade changes back and started another game and everything was back to normal. The change probably also affected the other raw materials but the rares were easiest to spot.

You mean costal forts the building type, right? Well no need to tinker with the AI files for that. There could be events for these countries that construct them and take some rare materials and supplies for that. Much easier. The only country were this would make sense thou is England - the others have no chance anyway with or without costal forts.

This should not happen. Please try again with only one or two countries altered.

reinforcement = 0.02
those two setting are usually placed above the diplomacy section of an ai file.

Yes I meant coastal forts. Well coastal forts will make it easier to defend them but it wont save if they are not in a coalition of some kind.
