yes please

a faster prestige gain for the popes themselves or something has to be done.

becase currently - I need to wait years just to be able to excommunicate some count even. And most Popes don't make it for years... Or at least lower the cap for becoming pope to maybe 40 ?

Or how about combining the prestige of the pope with 1/2 or 1/3 of the liege's prestige and use that as the Excommunication prestige.

:p

around 0 (pope) + ~5000 (1/3 mine) yes, definitely!:)

I think the first one was better - a faster prestige gain, e.g. x2 or even x4 prestige gain from titles for pope. That won't change much in overall scale as pope is rarely having duke level vassals and has only 1 king title.

yeah i guess its a bit exploitive :p

faster prestige gain should be done then.. so there will be some sense in being papal controller.

I already find it useful when trying to snatch territories from large empires.
AFter all you cant' EVER excom. the HRE emperor currently in the game, while in history that happened :D

I myself don't like the whole PC and excommunication part at all, it is just to gamey. So tweaking it to make it more worth while I wouldn't really like at all.

It has nothing to do with reality, yes emperors of the HRE were excommunicated but not because someone thought 'hey I want to have that title, excommucicate him'

The Pope should be much more powerfull, not all popes were puppets of a ruler.

But a change in that way won't be possible.

I would rather see some more benefits to being papal controller, like the ability to then actually appoint bishops or have more to say in the crusades, get extra money when going on a crusade as papal controller

This event f.e.

Which is a broken event, since I have never seen it fire.

well I;d like many things too which are CK3 material as you know very good. So why not at least make that we have better ? The current papal controller thing is supposed to work this way - but its not doing it. So why not just adjust it so it starts doing what is supposed to :)

But it is working, you can excommunicate people. Only not really powerfull ones or to be precise only weak ones.

And that is how it should be, I think.

It is very easy for a human player to become Papal controller, you know what to do to become one, the AI will never try to become PC. And with the current AI this means another great advantage to you as a human player.

So wouldn't this make the game easier ?

I already find the game to easy, without houserules.

Of course this is just my personal opinion. You may all disagree, that is OK. :)

and yes it is working only on lowlife :p and why it should be like this?? I dont see the logic in this.

And dont include the theme about exploits, after all its a personal choice :) not all know how to become papal controller or want to at all.

It is somehow strange to say the game too easy.. Can you say exactly long have we played that game ? cuz it seems to me quite a lot. For a brand new player that has just picked it up maybe will not be so easy or notice the difference at all.

at least thats what methinks :)

Well I have played it since version 1.01 (the first patch that came out on the same day the game was released) that was april 4th 2004. So yes I might be a bit more experienced.

But still, most people once they get the hang of it and know the exploits find it easy.

So maybe it could be tied to difficulty level. Or if a lot of players want it, who am I to object :) I can always choose not to use the powers.

actually there is a set difficulty level as you said. Do you think that increasing the pope restige faster would really change things so much ? we arent talking about popes with 10,000 prestige after all :D
