True, they'd be swallowed up by either the Russians or the Empire. On the other hand I can see them being this world's Serbia, surviving between two great empires, with ties to nationalists in the HRE. The heir apparent is visiting the east with his wife when a nationalist assassin guns him down, triggering the Great War...

Well if you played on into Victoria 2 then we would see what would happen :D

I just realised something. You know what would be fun (but also slightly what you have just done)

Austria or Bohemia, but the rules are:
You can take no land militarily
You must defend the Empire in EVERY single war no matter what
You must remain the emperor
You cannot align yourself with historical rivals
