Its because when the war starts US infantry are still using single action rifles where the CS has lots of sub-machine guns.

But then what do you call the standard rifles of Germany, UK, USSR, Italy, and France for the entire war OTL? CSA seems to be using units patterned after German 1944 divisions, but every other country in the world, other than the USA, used single action rifles for the whole of world war two - the USA used semiautomatic gas-powered rifles.

I would say that it's training over weaponry that classifies a unit the best. If I give a unit of US Marines 1 shot rifles, u wouldnt classify them as Great War Infantry, and if u did u wouldnt live long enough with a division of semi-modern bodyguards to tell the tale. And CS does appear to be more around 1943-4 Germany with SMG and Automatic rifles, though for the fun of the game they shuldnt have more then '41 infantry when Operation Blackbeard comes around.

BTW I love my lil M1 .30 cal Carbine.

Ok the day Ive DREADED!!!.

I have decided that Beta 1.o will be released tomorrow. I'll post what the URL is when I have uploaded it to my geocities homepage. Way I packaged it is in ZIP form and all u will need to do is extract the SA folder as a whole into your HoI2 folder, then click on the specialized icon to play. What Im thinking right now is take feedback on the beta, change that, then get DTTE this tuesday, make some events off that, and release a final SA mod.

hmmm that leaves bare weeks before the war

I'm not clear omega did you say the game started in 1937, doesn't the war in the game start 41? Also will we be able to play this game with mod-dir, without needing the no time limit patch? since ur starting 37, it seems one won't need the no time limit patch, which would be very nice indeed.

I decided that it's better to start Jan 1, 1941- 6 days before the plebiscite. This way the US is more inclined to bow to CS demands cause every US Army unit will be at half strength at least. It also gives the US time to start an army production but will still be frakked due to time constraints to overpower the CS within the first month.

Ive still got 2 ideas that I want to do for final release but not important to beta: 1) more reworking of the graphics using photoshop/ adding new improved pics [if u got one post it] 2) adding a "National Guard" trigger when Militias can be called up in time of war (5-10-15 for much manpower/supplies/money).

Ya it could be kinda messy if everyone gets it and doesn't understand fully. I'll think about it over the night.

two things, is the pleb. def. or are there chances for the states to change sides eg-seqoia goin CS or kentucky goin US, and did you model the increased sabotage in the US with events or increased partisan levels?

Just went through the plebsicite triggers... I can do them one by one but I have no clue wat will happen if I try to give the AI decision on each one of the states when a person is playing as US. W/E happens, the human player will be able to still decide whether to let the votes occur or to say frak off to the CS.

As for sabotage, I right now am principally using the common retrorisk, but I have plenty trigs left that I can change to make IC/Infra/unit commands take a hit, though I doubt if the player would notice.

With, without, doesn't make a difference if u wanted to mod it urself but right now I do not have a no limit time pass.

update: it may be me being ill but I cant seem to get around what I thought when I looked at the plebiscite: the fact is even if I make an AI folder for the pleb, as soon as I link it over to US for decision of shuld the vote occur, the US also gets control of what states to keep or give up... well hopefully I'll feel better morrow morning and can take another look at it... if you have a suggestion, please please feel free to talk.

Ive got some problems uploading to geocities... even using WinRAR I may have to get rid of some things like the specific unit names ( where the reg units name will appear, ie "Junker Ju-87b Stuka")... this things gonna be uploaded tonight.

For my audio AAR, I'm using megaupload.com they seem to be pretty reliable, unlimited downloading and they don't remove the file as long as it has been downloaded once in the previous 30 days

Interesting. I've been looking for a good audio site. I just make sure to d/l the file every 30 days just to be sure. Thanks! :)

has that URL been posted yet? not to put any undue pressure on you but WHERE IS IT? :D

btw thanx to omega and everyone else who've worked on this mod, i'm anxious to give it a whirl. Had i known about it earlier, i would've offered my event-making skills. Since this is only a beta, i think i will. Any help needed with events, let me know. Sorry the help is belated, but i'll do whatever i can.

Omega,

I'll have a little bit more time after exams this week. I can take a look at adapting some of your events to human-only and AI-only versions if that's still an issue.
